"But I don't mind telling you it's an enormous honor…I can't imagine any YT-series shipyard has ever had a visitor of such magnitude"
―The droid, to Darth Vader[2]

A droid served the Corellian Engineering Corporation at YT-Series Warranty and Repair Shipyard B33 on[2] the planet[3] Corellia during the Imperial Era. When the Sith Lord Darth Vader was searching for Han Solo, a smuggler and Rebel Alliance associate, in the time after the Battle of Yavin, he pursued Solo's YT-1300 light freighter Millennium Falcon to the droid's shipyard, where Solo managed to blend in with the other YT-series freighters and evade Vader. Following Solo's escape, Vader and an Imperial officer met with the droid, who apologized for the loss of Vader's target but was honored by the magnitude of its visitor. Vader silenced the droid, recognizing Solo amongst images of various other individuals. The droid identified Solo by name, offering to assist in tracking down the smuggler, but Vader refused. When the droid asked again, insisting that it would not be any trouble, Vader sliced the droid in two with his lightsaber.[2]

Notes and references

  1. Darth Vader (2020) 12 establishes that the flashback in which the droid is destroyed takes place between the Battle of Yavin and the capture of Han Solo on Cloud City. Star Wars: Galactic Atlas establishes that the battle marks the beginning of 0 ABY and dates the events on Cloud City to 3 ABY. As such, the flashback in Darth Vader 12, including the droid's destruction on Corellia, must be set between those two years.
