- "It's easy to disagree with the policies of someone who has destroyed your family. Fel has a habit of being too merciful for his own good."
- ―Aristocra Chaf'orm'bintrano
A syndic that opposed Assistant Syndic Soontir Fel once belonged to a family that was among the Ruling Families of the Chiss Ascendancy. According to the account given by Aristocra Chaf'orm'bintrano[1] in 35 ABY,[3] it was one of three Ruling Families that employed hives of the sentient Killiks as a work force during a civil conflict between the Chiss. As a result, the Family fell out of power[4] by 28 ABY[2] and was destroyed by Soontir Fel[1] over the family's continued reliance on the Killiks.[4]
Behind the scenes
The family was mentioned in Dark Nest I: The Joiner King, the first installment of Star Wars: The Dark Nest Trilogy, which was written by Troy Denning and published in 2005.[1] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas identified four of the Ruling Families that fell on the losing side of a civil conflict between Chiss of the planets Sharb, Noris, Schesa, and Ornfra, while two of the Ruling Families of the planets Catlia and Massoss became Joiners.[4] Since the novel clearly refers to the former, the family must have been the resident of one of the four planets.
