"I remember when another like you came here with demands. He was taller. Far more impressive. He killed our last king."
―Kristoff, to Kylo Ren[2]

A male individual served as the king of the Benathy species on[2] Benath,[3][4] an astronomical object located in Wild Space.[3] Around 15 BBY, the human Sith Lord[1] Darth Vader of the Galactic Empire came to Benath with a sizeable Imperial force and made demands of the king before killing them. The Benathy Kristoff succeeded the monarch.[2] In 33 ABY, the human Kylo Ren,[1] commander of the First Order and Vader's grandson,[5] visited Benath with his army to negotiate the end of the Benathy's conquest of local planets and to invite the Benathy to submit to the First Order. While meeting with Ren, Kristoff recalled Vader's visit and regicide, and Ren, too, ultimately killed the king after they both refused to submit and annoyed him.[2]

Behind the scenes

The king was first mentioned in the comic one-shot Age of Resistance - Kylo Ren 1. The comic was written by Tom Taylor and published by Marvel Comics[2] on September 25, 2019.[6]
