- "Uh, they got away, sir."
- ―The B1-series battle droid, to Grievous
During the Clone Wars, a B1-series battle droid was part of the naval forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, in which it served under the command of the Kaleesh Separatist General Grievous aboard his Munificent-class star frigate.[2] In 22 BBY,[1] the B1-series battle droid was present for Grievous's ambush of Jedi General Anakin Skywalker in an outer corridor of space, who was ordered by the Kaleesh to deploy their entire complement of Vulture-class droid starfighters despite the droid's expression of Skywalker's inability to escape. However, following the Jedi General's withdrawal, the battle droid informed the Separatist general that Skywalker had escaped, resulting in its destruction in Grievous's frustration.[2] Grievous also hoped that, by destroying the B1, he would inspire fear in his other forces to motivate them to do better.[4]
Behind the scenes
The B1-series battle droid appeared in "Downfall of a Droid,"[2] the sixth episode of the first season of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series, which aired on November 7, 2008. Similarly to all other B1-series battle droids in the series, the battle droid was voiced by Matthew Wood.[5]
