The Umbara alphabet was the written form of Umbarese, the language spoken by the species of the same name.[1] It consisted of 26 letters, with a number of additional symbols for digits and punctuation marks. The basic shape of each letter or symbol was a circle or segment of circle, adorned with various dots, lines and other internal features.[2]

Behind the scenes

"An entire Umbara alphabet was designed for use in these episodes."
―StarWars.com[2]

The Umbara alphabet first appeared in "Darkness on Umbara,"[1] the seventh episode of the fourth season of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series,[2] which aired on October 28, 2011.[3] The alphabet was developed for The Clone Wars series by concept artist Chris Glenn, who based all letters within the alphabet on circles.[4]
