Biography
Tutso Mara was a Jedi Knight who was active in the Jedi Order at the time of the Clone Wars. He spent most of his time at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant training Initiates[3] and once trained with the Padawan Barriss Offee and taught her how to properly hold her lightsaber.[2] Around 21 BBY,[4] Mara was teaching a class of Initiates in lightsaber stances, when Offee stopped by to watch. Offee had been traumatized by the events of the First Battle of Geonosis and the Jedi casualties during the War and was recovering from a crisis of faith. Mara was able to sense her troubling thoughts through the Force, but Offee received a message from her Master Luminara Unduli and left the room. Mara later spoke with Offee after her upcoming role in the Second Battle of Geonosis and her doubts about it and he reassured her about doing her duty as a Jedi to the Galactic Republic and the light side of the Force. The two then meditated together in front of the Great Tree in the training ground. Afterwards, Offee was able to focus on her upcoming mission[3] which she completed successfully.[5]
In 19 BBY,[1] Mara, along with five other Jedi Knights and several civilians, was killed during the bombing of the Jedi Temple hangar,[2] which was orchestrated by Offee herself, who had become disillusioned with the Jedi Order.[6] He and the other Jedi victims were later laid to rest in a Jedi ceremony.[2]
