Turbofans were extremely large fans used in vehicle construction. The Infantry Support Platform built by Uulshos Manufacturing and used by the Grand Army of the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars was constructed with a large turbofan housed its rear. The fan worked with the vehicle's repulsors to allowed the vehicle to move quickly and smoothly over the battlefield.[1]
Behind the scenes
Turbofans first appeared in the 2005 prequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith.[2] They were first identified in the new Star Wars canon in the 2018 reference book Star Wars Encyclopedia of Starfighters and Other Vehicles, which was written by Landry Q. Walker.[1]
