Tsui Choi was an Aleena Jedi who served the Jedi Order[2] during the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic, which the Jedi supported as military commanders, and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Towards the end of the war[1] in 19 BBY,[4] Choi was present on the planet Kashyyyk, the homeworld of the Wookiees, as it fell under attack by the Confederacy. Riding atop a can-cell,[1] Choi led a Oevvaor jet catamaran[2] as they traveled around the Wawaatt Archipelago before the fighting broke out between Republic and Separatist forces.[1] He[2] was one of several Jedi on planet at that time, as Grand Master Yoda, Jedi Master Quinlan Vos, and Jedi Master Luminara Unduli were all also present in their own capacities as Jedi Generals.[5]
Behind the scenes
- "Kashyyyk! Finally on-screen (and not part of a prime time musical variety show special!) Tsui Choi, the Aleena Jedi, is riding the can-cell that leads the Wookiee catamaran into frame here. I think production just called him "Ratts Jedi"."
- ―Pablo Hidalgo
Tsui Choi first appeared in the current Star Wars canon within the 2005 film Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith.[1] His name was first used in the canon era of storytelling by Pablo Hidalgo of the Lucasfilm Story Group. Hidalgo recalled the character being called the "Ratts Jedi" behind the scenes.[2]
