A transliterator was an electronic translator device used to translate various alien languages into Basic. It was attached to the throat and could be programmed with different voices.
The Gamorrean sow, Ugmush, used a transliterator with the voice of the holovid star Amber Jevanche programmed in. The Buzchub, Und'l, also made use of one.
