Tractor Beam 12 was a tractor beam control unit located in Section N6 on board the Death Star. When a YT-1300 light freighter named the Millennium Falcon was captured by the station's tractor beam, Obi-Wan Kenobi, who was the passenger of the ship, turned off the device in order to allow the Falcon to escape.

Behind the scenes

Tractor Beam 12 first appeared in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The text on the tractor beam was displayed in English, however, it was replaced with Aurebesh in the 2004 DVD release.
