"While the ex-senators and territorial supervisors have been jailed for terms of four years or more, the prime minister has been tried, convicted, and executed for treason. Furthermore, his home city of Tophen—found to be the center of this activity—has already been pacified."
―Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin, about Tophen[1]

Tophen was a city on[1] the Outer Rim[2] planet Christophsis. By the time of the Imperial Era, it was the hometown of the planet's prime minister. Under the minister's direction, Tophen began serving as a center of operations for the Christophsis insurgents, an anti-Imperial resistance group.[1]

In 3 BBY,[3] the prime minister was executed for treason against the Empire during a series of arrests after the Empire discovered his affiliation with Tophen's rebels. Afterward, Tophen was "pacified" by the Empire for being an insurgent activity hub. Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin announced Tophen's fate in an address to the Imperial Senate, claiming it as a victory for the future of the Empire.[1]

Behind the scenes

Tophen was mentioned in Leia, Princess of Alderaan, a 2017 young-adult novel written by Claudia Gray.[1]
