Thrawn, Vol. 1 is the first volume of Man Tsang's manga adaptation of the 2017 novel Thrawn by Timothy Zahn.^[1]

According to Tsang, Disney invited him to bid for illustrating the manga based on his work on his Hong Kong comic 0課特工 The ZEROS. According to Tsang's agent, the project's first drafts were made two years before the manga's announcement^[3] at Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo, Japan on April 18, 2025,^[1] and Thrawn's character design had been revised over three months—balancing between Disney, Lucasfilm, and Man Tsang's busy day job had been challenging, but the agent hopes that the world would recognise Man Tsang's talents and Hong Kong for producing such a distinguished comic artist.^[3]

↑ Chapter 19 of Thrawn includes Arihnda Pryce being appointed governor of Lothal, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 11 BBY. As chapter 19 also establishes it has been approximately four years since the start of Thrawn, the novel must have began around 15 BBY.
