Thorium was a substance which could be used to make batteries. When the former Imperial Sinjir Rath Velus began drinking a bottle of liquor he found in the home of Esmelle, the flavor was coppery and tasted like Velus had just licked a thorium battery.[1]
Behind the scenes
Thorium was first mentioned in the Star Wars Legends novella Dark Forces: Soldier for the Empire, which was written William C. Dietz and released in 1997. The substance was confirmed to be canon when mentioned by the novel Aftermath, which was written by Chuck Wendig and released in 2015.
