"How do. Private Wesner, Thirty-first Recon out of Fort Garnik."
―Private Wesner introduces himself[1]

The Thirty-first Recon was a military unit in the Mantellian Army active during the Separatist War between the Galactic Republic and Mantellian Separatist Movement on the Mid Rim planet Ord Mantell, part of the broader Cold War between the Republic and reconstituted Sith Empire.

History

"My mission is to deliver recon on this village, but I can't report anything through this interference! I need those separatist jammers neutralized--so if you're headed into the village anyway, maybe you can handle it for us."
―Sergeant Blyes requests aid from Republic heroes[2]

During the Separatist War between the Galactic Republic and Mantellian Separatist Movement in 3643 BBY,[3] a squad of the Thirty-first Recon was engaged in fighting outside Drelliad village on the island of Avilatan on the Mid Rim planet Ord Mantell. Squad member Sergeant Jendan Blyes recruited two Republic heroes to disable three separatist signal jammers in the village so the unit could transmit their reconnaissance reports to their superiors at Fort Garnik, a nearby Republic military base.[2] Shortly thereafter, the unit's Private Wesner secured the heroes assistance to eliminate separatist snipers operating in the vicinity of Fort Garnik. On their way to the fort, the heroes defeated several snipers[1] and other separatist forces.[4]

Behind the scenes

The Thirty-first Recon first appeared on Ord Mantell in the 2011 BioWare-LucasArts video game Star Wars: The Old Republic.[1]

SWTOR mini STAR WARS: The Old Republic - Question ! :) - Page 3 on The Old Republic's official website (backup link) places Star Wars: The Old Republic about ten to twelve years after the signing of the Treaty of Coruscant, which is dated to 3653 BBY by Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia. The Old Republic — The Lost Suns 2 takes place ten years after the treaty, one week after the mission to Nar Shaddaa, and around the time of the SpecForce Incident. Since the mission and the incident are respectively part of Act I of the Jedi Knight and Republic Trooper's storylines, and the Trooper's Act I occurs concurrent to Act I of the Smuggler storyline, the general events of the Prologue and Act I for all classes can be assumed to occur in 3643 BBY.
