A thermic baster was a type of cooking tool[1] that consisted of a cream-colored body with an opening in the top portion of the front face in which two silver colored utensils sat. Two square red lights were located below the opening on the front face.[2] The enslaved human Shmi Skywalker had a thermic baster mounted on the wall of the kitchen in the home that she and her son, Anakin Skywalker, shared on Slave Quarters Row in the city of Mos Espa on the planet Tatooine when they hosted a group of offworlders during a sandstorm[1] in 32 BBY.[3]
Behind the scenes
A thermic baster appeared in the 1999 prequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace.[2] In the current Star Wars canon, the item was first identified in the 2016 reference book Star Wars: Complete Locations.[1] The name originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where the item was identified in the 2000 reference book Inside the Worlds of Star Wars: Episode I, which was written by Kristin Lund.[4]
