Behind the scenes

"If the 'Bogey Man' is a Sith, the 'Good Samaritan' has to be a Jedi. [...] The biggest struggle we had with this illustration was settling on a look for the Jedi. The art directors wanted a heroic/angelic feel to the character. For inspiration, I dug into Ralph Mcquarrie's original concept art for Luke Skywalker, meshed with a Wyeth fairy-tale knight. It was extremely satisfying painting a Jedi in full chainmail and rocking a shield. In the end, we ended up going for a more iconic Jedi feel and added the hooded cloak. As you can see, we did keep in the armor and shield, so I was happy."
―Grant Griffin on designing the Wanderer[2]

The Wanderer is a character that appeared in the 2019 middle-grade novel Myths & Fables.[1] According to author George Mann, there were discussions about the character of the Wanderer being Qui-Gon Jinn, though whether or not it was actually Jinn was open to interpretation.[3]

The graphic novel Hyperspace Stories: Qui-Gon later featured Jinn on Cerosha, though features a different mission where he defeats a nest of slovars, and does not confirm whether or not he is the Wanderer from Myths & Fables.[4]
