The Mother's listening room, also known as the Mother's listening chamber, was a location within the Path of the Open Hand's underground caverns on the planet Dalna, where the leader of the Path known as the Mother received visitors and Path members, and met with the Path's Elders.[1] It was in the upper levels of the cavern system and was accessed down a staircase from the Mother's cottage. The cavern that served as the listening room was dry and warm, with stalactites and stalagmites embedded with natural deposits of sun opal that held and reflected light. It was furnished with floor pillows and thick carpets in gray and blue. Shelves were carved into the stone walls, and there was a small computer terminal in one corner.[3] The room's antechambers held Force artifacts that Path members had collected from all over the galaxy. Clean Path robes were stored in another anteroom.[1] An adjoining boudoir served as the Mother's bedroom, where she kept precious jewels.[3]
The Mother kept a Nameless egg in the listening chamber with her while it incubated. When Jedi Kevmo Zink and Zallah Macri confronted the Mother in the chamber about the Path's theft of Force artifacts, the newly hatched Nameless known as the Leveler killed Macri and harmed Zink, who fled and later died in another part of the cavern system. Afterward, Azlin Rell found Macri's calcified body in the chamber while searching for her and Zink.[1] Upon the Path's return to Dalna after the Battle of Jedha, the Mother continued using the room, keeping the fully-grown Leveler with her. During the Night of Sorrow, a confrontation occurred in the listening chamber that resulted in the death of the Herald. Most of the Path caverns were destroyed when Yana and Marda Ro decided to detonate explosives and drown the young Nameless brood, and what remained of the Path left Dalna after the Night of Sorrow.[3]
