- "Three and three the wagons rolled
As clouds did clash and the rain did pour;
And soldiers strong and mothers bold
Wept for the city they had adored." - ―"The Khuntavaryan Fall"
"The Khuntavaryan Fall" was a ballad of unknown provenance that was considered indigenous to a lost civilization. By the era of the Galactic Civil War, it was well-known to those on both sides of the conflict; New Republic pilot Denish Wraive sang the ballad over comms with Mervais Gandor, a member of the 204th Imperial Fighter Wing, and its lyrics were recalled by Hera Syndulla and Nath Tensent.[1]
Behind the scenes
"The Khuntavaryan Fall" was created for the 2021 novel Victory's Price, written by Alexander Freed. It is the title of the novel's third chapter; all of the chapter titles in the first part of the novel are "indigenous songs of lost civilizations."[1]
