- "However, in the aftermath of the peace treaty he returned to lead his people into the New Republic while also publishing The Folly of War: An Analysis of the Rebel Alliance, which critiqued the tactics and leadership of the Rebellion and, certainly to my mind, appears to have questioned whether the overthrow of the Empire was necessary at all."
- ―Beaumont Kin, The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire
The Folly of War: An Analysis of the Rebel Alliance was a text authored by Haolp Joruth, former senator for[1] the Core Worlds planet[2] Eufornis Major under the Galactic Republic and Galactic Empire. He published the text after leading his people in joining the New Republic following the signing of the Galactic Concordance that ended the Galactic Civil War[1] in 5 ABY.[3]
Although Joruth had taken no part in the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the war, the text critiqued the Alliance's tactics and leadership during the conflict.[1] In 35 ABY,[4] the historian Beaumont Kin spoke about Joruth's text in[1] his[5] book The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire and stated that to him it seemed that The Folly of War also questioned if the Empire had needed overthrowing at all. Kin also suggested that it had likely made it difficult for former Alliance members to work with Joruth within the New Republic while he slandered them in text.[1]
Behind the scenes

- ↑ Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire states that thirty years have passed since the end of the Galactic Civil War and months have passed since the Battle of Exegol. As Star Wars: Timelines dates the end of the war to 5 ABY and the Battle of Exegol to 35 ABY, the in-universe The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire must have been published in 35 ABY.
