- ―Beaumont Kin, The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire
Haolp Joruth was a senator who represented the planet Eufornis Major in both the Galactic Republic's Galactic Senate and the Galactic Empire's Imperial Senate. After the end of the Galactic Civil War in 5 ABY, he led his people in joining the New Republic and published The Folly of War: An Analysis of the Rebel Alliance, which critiqued the Alliance to Restore the Republic's tactics and leadership during the war.
Biography
- "It cannot have been easy for those who had fought for the Alliance to build bridges with someone like Joruth who seemed quite content to slander them in text while also constructing his own reputation as an insightful genius."
- ―Beaumont Kin, The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire
Haolp Joruth served in both the Republic and Imperial Senate.
Haolp Joruth was the senator for Eufornis Major,[1] a Core Worlds planet,[2] in the Galactic Senate of the Galactic Republic and continued to represent the world in the Imperial Senate after the Republic transitioned into the Galactic Empire[1] in 19 BBY.[3] Joruth remained senator until the Imperial Senate was dissolved[1] in 0 BBY[4] and took no role in the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War against the Empire.[1]
After the war ended with the dissolution of the Empire[1] in 5 ABY,[3] Joruth attempted to rebrand himself and led his people in joining the new ruling galactic state, the New Republic. Around this time, he also published The Folly of War: An Analysis of the Rebel Alliance, a critique of the Alliance's tactics and leadership during the war.[1]
Joruth slandered the Alliance despite working with its members in the New Republic.
In 35 ABY,[5] the historian Beaumont Kin mentioned Joruth and his analysis in[1] his[6] book The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire. Kin called Joruth's work lacking in honesty and reflectiveness, claiming that, to him, it appeared that Joruth questioned if the Empire needed to be overthrown at all. The historian then commented on the difficulties that those in the New Republic who had worked in the Alliance must have had building bridges with Joruth as he slandered them and tried to build his own reputation as an insightful genius.[1]
Behind the scenes
Haolp Joruth was mentioned in the 2024 reference book Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, which was written by Dr. Chris Kempshall.[1]
