- "The Family appreciates your business."
- ―Bouncer droid BS-1119
The Family was a criminal organization that operated a series of racetracks within the underworld of the planet Coruscant. The group officiated illegal races through abandoned industrial zones and hosted gambling services for its clients. For a fee, the Family also allowed pilots to try their hand at the dangerous courses during non-race nights, an opportunity that the Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker took during a secret rendezvous with his wife Padmé Amidala[1] in 22 BBY.[2] The Family employed at least one bouncer droid during the Clone Wars, an overly polite unit known as BS-1119.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Family first appeared in Brotherhood, a 2022 novel by Mike Chen.[1] The name serves as a reference to the oft-repeated theme of family in the Fast & Furious franchise, which features criminals engaging in illegal races.[3]

Notes and references
- ↑ 1.0 1.1 1.2 1.3 1.4 1.5 1.6 Brotherhood
- ↑ Brotherhood is set between the beginning of the Clone Wars and the Battle of Christophsis, as the novel's plot involves Anakin Skywalker becoming a Jedi Knight, a rank he attained between those events. As Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates both events to 22 BBY, Brotherhood must be set in that year.
