Behind the scenes

The Blurps is mentioned in Il faut sauver Miss Pickalho, a French-language scenario for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game which appeared in Casus Belli magazine in March 1999. As this material was not approved through the Lucas Licensing process, it is considered non-canon.

In French, the name is given as Le Blurps, showing that it is supposed to be a singular noun rather than plural, though its meaning is left unexplained. In contrast with the Black Hole, it is not directly described as a cantina.
