Test Unit 08-B was an experimental garment created by the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars. The project was overseen by Dr. Aiyah Pellorean. The garment was made with a cobolite weave produced a weapons amplification field of 2.41 meters. The field increased the effectiveness of ion weapons but had a side effect of causing nearby battle droids to become violently disorientated. Due to the importance of battle droids to the war effort, Pellorean was ordered to halt their work until peace was achieved. It included a blue undershirt, purple jacket, grey pants and a grey belt. The outfit along with its final report was stored in a bunker on the Outer Rim planet Akiva.[1]
In 3 ABY[2] Kay Vess was able to locate and open the bunker on Akiva. Inside she retrieved the garment.
Behind the scenes
Test Unit 08-B was first mentioned on a datapad in the 2024 Massive Entertainment video game Star Wars Outlaws. In the game the outfit is made up of three pieces of equipment, the "Disruptor Jacket", the "Disruptor Belt" and the "Disruptor Pants". When all pieces are worn, dealing ion damage to already ionized enemies becomes lethal.[1]
