solution

I have noticed that there have been a lot of problems with getting this template to match the width of the other templates it is meant to pair with. There are a couple easy solutions. We could simply create a collapsible row within the battle/war/mission/duel infoboxes and this campaign infobox could be redesigned to nest within it... Or we could create a container template that would display them both properly on the page.... But, trying to make the widths of two infoboxes match with no interaction between them seems like a futile effort...--Sentry 10:07, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

I was trying to adapt Wikipedia's method for doing this, but making a container template may be a better idea. I don't know if I like the idea of a nested template as I think it would be better to keep the campaign box separate from the main infobox. As it is now, the campaign box will align properly as long as the infobox is not stretched – that is, the images have to be around 290px. Mission at Alzoc III and some of the others have to been updated to reflect this. In fact, it may be a better idea just to leave it the way it is, so infobox width is consistent (at least among battle/war infoboxes) and not varying from battle to battle. Thoughts? Another option is to put the campaign box at the bottom of articles, like is done with many of the other nav templates (such as {{k1char}}, {{Galactic Republic walkers}}, and so on). RMF 17:09, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
Ya, I can see how integrating the campaign box into another would cause some problems, but it could be done. Last night I created a custom user infobox for use on my userpage that allows me to nest an optional userbox template within itself. It was rather difficult to achieve and, as you said, it probably won't be necessary here as long as people don't attempt to resize the infobox images. Putting the campaign box at the bottom of the page would be a really easy solution, but i'm not sure people would go for it... Lastly, I think that I will test out a container template just to see if I can make it work.--Sentry 01:14, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

Use

Sentry, I saw on the Stark Hyperspace War you removed the campaign template because you said it only belonged on the actual battle pages itself. I disagree with this. I think they work equally well on an article like that one. It works as an easy access hub for the battles, presenting them in an organised format. In that article it generally has links to the main articles in the text but not all articles are capable of doing that. I put the Empire Reborn template on the main article. I think it works well. It could be argued that the main template has fields for the main battles. I think the separate template is muich nicer itself. What reason do you have for insisiting it only goes on mission/duel/battle etc pages? --Eyrezer 02:08, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

  • I removed it from the Jedi Civil War and Stark Hyperspace War pages because every one of the battles listed in those two campaign boxes were actually listed within the 'Major battles' cell of the war templates for those articles. It seemed like pointless redundancy to me. Secondly, the campaign boxes take up a lot more space than the 'major battles' cells and I didn't see the point in wasting page space in that fashion.--Sentry [Talk] 07:10, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

Modification

Ok I have modified the template, it seems to work weel. Hk 47 21:43, March 23, 2012 (UTC)

Bad parameters

I've noticed that if the line |date= is filled in an article, it doesn't show up. Moreover, filling it puts the article in the following category: Category:Bad parameters. Also, it would be better to put |image= above |name=.--DKS MaXoO (talk) 04:27, February 7, 2020 (UTC)
