This article is about the clone trooper. You may be looking for the star.

"You want a ride in? We're securing the HoloNet center. Don't want to break it before we can send out all those uplifting Republic messages, do we?"
―Tel[3]

Tel was a clone trooper sergeant in the Grand Army of the Republic in the 35th Infantry who fought in the Battle of Gaftikar. During the battle he brought Omega Squad with him to take out the HoloNet center in Eyat. Before going into Eyat City, he told the Omegas of Gilad Pellaeon, whom he considered a good officer, for a non-clone.[3]

Behind the scenes

"We've got mongrel officers now, for fierfek's sake, and that one only got through the Academy because his dad's some ranking captain."
―Tel, expressing disdain towards mongrel officers[3]

Tel appeared in the novel Republic Commando: True Colors,[3] released on October 30, 2007.[4] The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, released on December 9, 2008,[5] states in Tel's entry that he was a nonclone officer,[6] however, this is contradicted by other information found within the encyclopedia. The encyclopedia states that armor tallies contained a clone trooper's identification,[7] and Republic Commando: True Colors establishes that Tel has an armor tally. Furthermore, within the novel Tel uses the term "mongrel,"[3] which the encyclopedia establishes to be a slang term used by clone troopers to describe the nonclone humans given leadership roles.[8] Since Tel expresses disapproval towards mongrel officers, this article assumes that Tel is not a mongrel officer, and is instead a clone trooper.[3]
