The slang term mongrel was used clone troopers to identify a non-clone soldiers in the Republic Army had a leadership role in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. A mongrel usually took direct command of a squad unlike a Jedi, who typically gave orders to the clone commander to relay to the troops.[1]
