The Tears of Taris was a legendary Sith warship that fought during the Jedi Civil War, and centuries later, during the Galactic War.
History
The Tears of Taris was originally a Centurion-class battle cruiser from the era of the Jedi Civil War. It was part of Darth Malak's fleet that bombarded and devastated the planet Taris. After the end of the Jedi Civil War and the fall of Malak's Sith Empire, the ship changed hands many times over the centuries that followed, but it always served the Sith.[1]

By the time of the Great Galactic War, a Sith Lord of the resurgent Sith Empire named Darth Charnus became aware of the existence of the Tears of Taris. Charnus ordered the ship to be disassembled and its key elements were integrated into a new dreadnaught, as an act to honor the vessel that had survived for so long. The dreadnought was a formidable ship and it was designed to both besiege planets and deploy troops.[1] Under Darth Charnus, the Tears of Taris played a role in the Imperial invasion of Corellia during the Galactic War.[2]
