Tatoo-rats[2] were a type of brown-furred rat from the desert planet Tatooine. In 4 ABY, three tatoo-rats were climbing on the bars of a cell in the crime lord Jabba Desilijic Tiure's palace on Tatooine as the droids C-3PO and R2-D2 were marched past the cell in order to reach the droid pool for work assignment.[1]

Tatoo-rats first appeared in the 1983 original trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi.[1] They were first identified in the video "Every Creature in the Star Wars Movies", which was released by the Star Wars Kids YouTube channel in 2019.[2]
