Name
I'll move this to Valenthyne Farfalla, in accordance with the standard. QuentinGeorge 23:58, 13 May 2005 (UTC)
His species
Jedi vs. Sith establishes the species as Equine. He's definately not human - the hooves are a dead giveaway. QuentinGeorge 02:42, 12 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- It actually estabilishes him as half-human, half-equine. A Jedi says, "It's that equine blood of his". But I don't think equine is a species, it's a characteristic, he must be a Ruusanian. They're from Power of the Jedi. If I'm not mistaken, the book described the natives of Ruusan as near-humans with hooves. --Master Starkeiller 11:49, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- It says nothing about "Half-Human" in the comic. Equine is the only species mentioned. And, Power of the Jedi (which I'm reading now) says nothing about the Near-Human Ruusaanians having hooves. (Since they are "Near-Humans" in the RPG sense, which means things like Kiffar and Mirial - ie, nearly undistinguishable from baseline humans. QuentinGeorge 11:52, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- Okay, my mistake about the Ruusanians, it's been a long time since I last read that book. But I didn't mean it said he was half-human. It said he has Equine blood. It sounded to me like he was not entirely Equine, like one of his parents was human and one was Equine or something like that. --Master Starkeiller 12:02, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- I don't know. He had an entire ship of guys exactly like him. It's far more likely that it was a ship of all the same species, rather than a rather co-incidental grouping of cross-breeds. QuentinGeorge 06:46, 15 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Death
- Um...Jedi vs. Sith clearly shows him being sucked into the thought bomb. Please don't tell me the new Darth Bane novel claims he survives. QuentinGeorge 22:13, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
- Apparently, yet his date of death is still stated as 1000 BBY so it's kind of odd....--Sauron18 01:23, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
About his apparent "death"
No where in Jedi vs Sith does it show his death. He is about to enter the Valley of the Jedi where Kaan is with Hoth, before Hoth tells him to turn back. From there onwards, we never see Farfalla again in the graphic novel, including as part of Hoth's group of Jedi that enter the caves. As Path of Destruction documents what happens to Farfalla after the Thought Bomb goes off, I think that it's safe to assume that the canon story for him is that he survives after the last battle of Ruusan. The Haunted Angel 18:52, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
- You do see his death. There is a frame where Farfalla and his knights are shown sucked into the thought bomb cave. It's just after the frame where the soldier says "All the Lords...the Jedi and the Sith..." QuentinGeorge 19:39, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
- Ah yes, well hidden that is. Yeah, I read in the article that that could be any Equine, not necessarily Farfalla, but if you compare the two people, I think it's obvious that it is indeed Farfalla. If we wanted to get really petty, we could say that even though we see him get sucked back, it doesn't always mean that he necessarily died, although I think that it's heavily implied he is, what with the Jedi saying "All the Lords, all of the Jedi and all of the Sith -- all gone". I haven't got my copy of Path of Destruction handy at the moment, but does it specifically say in that book that Farfalla is alive after the Thought Bomb goes off? Explanation of "death" in JvS
I admit I also didn't notice his "death" until after reading this page. Since Hoth tells him to stay behind("Your lives and deaths are for open skies!") and he isn't with Hoth's group, I always thought he survived in the comic itself. I'd guess the "real-world" explanation is that the artist just misinterpreted the script about all the Jedi dying, and drew Farfalla there. But as "in-universe" explanations go, since:
- a. We know he survived
- b. The image of his "death" is shown well after the bomb went off, when a random traumatized soldier is describing the event to Tomcat
Is it possible the picture is just how the soldier imagined the explosion? He wasn't in the cave, so the picture could just represent what he believed went on inside. InSaneWeTrust 02:04, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, I looked at the "notes and references" section and the blog of PoD's author, and this idea is apparently nothing new. Sorry about that. Still, I'm going to add it into the article(something like "While a traumatized soldier tells Darovit that all the Jedi were killed"), so that the panel is acknowledged in the article. Human/Bothan hybrid
I know it's always interesting to have retcons but... Bothans don't have hoofs, do they?--LelalMekha 08:16, April 4, 2012 (UTC)
- Hmm...not sure. (I just realized Farfalla was not a girl...because the picture in the infobox always looked like it and I never scrolled down to read the rest, lol) --The Lampshade... (talk) 20:54, April 17, 2012 (UTC)Lamp774
