And everybody said Skirmish over Geonosis was a minor event. --Darth Exekor (Talk) Sith Emblem 01:58, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

You can find the phrase 'trench run' in quite a lot instances. MoffRebus 06:22, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
But that doesn't mean it isn't a minor event. --Darth Exekor (Talk) Sith Emblem 12:39, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
No, they just revised the whole calendar after that. MoffRebus 12:50, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
No, they revised the calendar after the Battle of Yavin, not the trench run. --Darth Exekor (Talk) Sith Emblem 22:17, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Marked for merge

I disagree with this merge. The Trench run began as the climax to the Battle of Yavin, but it became a broader term and was developed into a battle tactic. Here are two quotes from the novel X-Wing: Wraith Squadron.

"Talon Twelve, dive for the surface. Trench Run Defense. Omega Signal. Acknowledge."
Myn Donos, during an ambush that wiped out his squadron[src]
"—this was the classic Trench Run Defense used against the first Death Star."
Myn Donos, thinking about his attempt to save his last remaining squadmate.[src]

These two quotes alone (and I know there are other sources out there that also reference the Trench Run is this same way) is reason enough to keep this article separate. - JMAS Jolly Trooper Hey, it's me! 20:27, February 20, 2015 (UTC)

  • No. There may be need for a Trench Run Defense article on the tactic, but as the article stands it's completely useless as it's about a single part of the Battle of Yavin. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 20:39, February 20, 2015 (UTC)
    • There is in fact already such an article on the Trench Run Defense, as it is an entirely separate topic from this historical overview of a part of a battle that does need to be merged into the proper battle article. The historical information from this article does NOT need to be replicated in the article on the tactic and does NOT need its own article. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 20:47, February 20, 2015 (UTC)
