Dates

Hey! I'm not sure if I'm supposed to use the original chinese date which would be Dec 17 or convert it to a US time (i.e. Dec 16) for the release date. Help please-ZapikCZ (talk) 19:07, 17 December 2020 (UTC)

Era

The press release says the era for this book is '共和国巅峰' which translates to something like 'The pinnacle of the Republic'.... would that be enough to place this in the High Republic Era??-ZapikCZ (talk) 00:02, 18 December 2020 (UTC)

    • Yeah the problem with all of this is that all we have are internet translations... which might get some meaning across, but probably not the wording. Even the title is probably wrong, I've already seen some people's browsers say "The Silver Pledge" for example.-ZapikCZ (talk) 00:10, 18 December 2020 (UTC)

Proper name

It not sky-earth. google translate it roughtly to qiánkūn which is 'Heaven And Earth' as seen here. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%E5%A4%A9%E5%9C%B0

  • Google translate is utterly unreliable, as is Wikipedia/Wikitionary. As I have said on Talk:Sky system, there are a few possible translations. Sky and heaven (天) just means the same thing in Chinese, as does 地 for ground and earth, with sky and earth being the traditional Chinese meaning. For uniformity, I suggest we stick with the "sky-earth" translation. I advise against moving any articles before we come to a consensus. - - -OOM 224 ༼༽{talk}༼༽ 21:52, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
    • Since it would be arbitrary of us to pick one of the several possible translations, relevent articles have been moved to "Unidentified…" titles.           • first of all there suppose to be space between tian and xuan and I know separately Tian means "heaven" and Xuan means either "piece of jade offered to heaven" or "waterlily." but i have no idea what yudong is.Ghidorafour (talk) 23:29, 9 January 2021 (UTC)

Xuanhuanghue (玄黄血), which translates to Dark Yellow Blood. This is a reference to a Chinese phrase about war; "the blood of a dragon that fights in the wild is dark/black and yellow". Therefore, an accurate translation for the name of the Xuanhuanghue can be "Dragon's Blood". Ghidorafour (talk) 09:39, 16 March 2021 (UTC)

If I may... as one of the users who is responsible for the writings about this book on [its TV Tropes page] that Ghidorafour is literally taking word-for-word from (I wrote that note about Xuanhuanghue, for starters)... I think it would be more accurate if we leave the names as they are in Chinese and then leave translation notes on their pages. For example, just leave "Heaven" system/"Sky-earth" system as "Qiankun" system, then describe in the notes what "Qiankun" translates to and what real-life concept it is based on. There isn't a Western equivalent or any accurate equivalent for foreign concepts sometimes (ex. Not every monotheistic religion referring to a "God" refers to the Christian depiction of God) and this should be reflected in the wiki. CommanderVisor (talk) 04:02, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

finally realized the space name

The confusion with it either being the Dry System or Sky system is due to them referring to the whole sector as Qiankun space. You know how you called area control by the empire as imperial space? same thing. it took me awhile but once i read more and more chapters i realize was trying to refer to the Dry in the sense qiankun, which can mean sky as mention above.

Now all that left to figure out is the space station 离, which is transliterated as either Chi or Li. Ghidorafour (talk) 01:26, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
