Section 1

Who added the cleanup tag?

  • It's not there now, but that's a good idea. There's some missing details and things need to be checked. - Finlayson 03:16, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Synopsis missing some early bits?

The synopsis tells of Luke checking out meteorites and being knocked unconscious. Then several paragraphs later, he leads the snowspeeders in the Battle of Hoth. There is no mention of how Luke escapes, nor of his vision of Obi-Wan. I'd add these myself but (a) I'm new here and don't want to step on anyone else's turf, and (b) I'm typing this with one hand, the other being busy holding a baby who I will shortly have to diaper for the fourth time tonight. :-)

I added some more. Is that better? - Sidewinder

  • Good work. The Search for Skywalker section could use some checking. I think Han tries to leave before Luke is lost. And there's no mention of Han and Chewie shooting the probe, alerting the Imperials. -Finlayson 03:16, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Thank you to whoever fixed the redlinks.

  • Han do tries to leave, until he is informed that Luke hasn't returned yet, and only he shots the probe droid who have alredy sendede the signals.-Te Shukalaryc Mand'alor20px 22:24, January 7, 2010 (UTC)

The Battle of Hoth

  • The AT-ST Scout walkers are mentioned in this section. They don't show up until ROTJ, unless they are mentioned in the book or something (??). -Finlayson 03:16, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
  • They are there. Just hard to see.
    • Right. Thanks. -Finlayson

Bold textThe AT-ST are int widescreen version. When Luke drops from the underside of the AT-AT. He looks up to see it start exploding the AT-ST can be briefly glimpsed on the left hand side of screen —Unsigned comment by 86.131.114.156 (talk • contribs)

Div for the crawl

I've changed the crawl to use a "div" to specify formatting, rather than ad-hoc wiki markup. If nobody objects I'll do the same to the crawls for the other movies. Also, if anyone can figure out a nice way to get the text to be justified (like in the real crawls) please go ahead. My best attempt is included in the article, commented out. --[Redacted by administration] 22:42, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Emperor's Speech Discrepancy

Anyone know the difference in the speech Palpatine makes to Vader (in the asteroid field) regarding the 'Son of Skywalker'? There's supposed to be a definite change -between the original dialogue and the Special Edition- that Lucas made to reflect the new info coming when ROTS came out. It's subtle, but worth a mention in the article.Tocneppil 07:22, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

ORIGINAL 1980/1997 DIALOGUE: Vader- What is thy biding my master? Emperor- There is a great disturbance in the force. Vader- I have felt it. Emperor- We have a new enemy, Luke Skywalker Vader- Yes my master Emperor- He could destroy us Vader- Hes just a boy, Obi wan can no longer help him Emperor- The force is strong with him..The son of Skywalker must not become a Jedi Vader- If he could be turned he would become a powerful ally Emperor- Yes..Yes he would be a great asset. Can it be done? Vader- He will join us or die Master

NEW 2004 DIALOGUE: Vader- What is thy biding my master? Emperor- There is a great disturbance in the force. Vader- I have felt it Emperor- We have a new enemy, the young rebel who destroyed the Death Star. I have no doubt this boy is the offspring of Anakin Skywalker Vader- How is that possible? Emperor- Search your feelings Lord Vader, you will know it to be true. He could destroy us Vader- Hes just a boy, Obi wan can no longer help him. Emperor- The force is strong with him, the son of Skywalker must no become a Jedi. Vader- If he could be turned he would become a powerful ally. Emperor- Yes he would be a great asset. Can it be done? Vader- He will join us or die Master.

Ships in the fleet at the end

  • I've been wondering what the Hell kind of ships those are in the Rebel fleet during the ending sequence of the Special Edition. Does anyone know?70.69.245.78 20:40, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
    • The main ship in the foreground is the Nebulon-B (why you don't know that yet I have no clue). Then there's those transports that took off from Hoth, some Gallofree something something, and then a few more in the background which I won't even try to name Lalala la 20:35, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Disambiguation link at top

Could someone tell me why this link Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (disambiguation) at the top is really needed? The only other thing that is similar is the novel. There's already the link to the The Empire strikes back axiom there. -Fnlayson 17:12, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Well, there's also the junior novelization, the audio drama, and the comics. Adamwankenobi 18:15, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
    • OK, those first 2 qualify. I searched for Episode V,"Episode V", etc. and got none of that. The Search feature here stinks. -Fnlayson 18:42, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
    • Thanks. I put those on a new Disamb page. -Fnlayson 18:55, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Opening Crawl Differences

All movies have 2 sentences in the first paragraph except RotJ has 1 sentence and RotS has 4 (if War! is counted). All movies have 1 sentence in paragraphs 2 and 3. I've noted this in talk for all movies. -- anon, I'll register if I post again. 12:20 EST, December 28, 2006

  • That'd something to put in trivia or similar. That doesn't seem like it is worth adding to me though. -Fnlayson 18:19, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

AT-AT

Okay in the beginning of the movie at the battle of Hoth at first it says that ATAT's armor is too strong for lasers but after it is crippled it is blow up by one shot.? Lord Titze the Dark Wanderer 03:27, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

  • They hit a weak spot in the AT-AT's neck. The spot was more exposed with it on the ground. -Fnlayson 03:23, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
    • Weak spot? It looks more like they put a power generator or an ordinance magazine in the neck or something from the way it blew up Lalala la 20:33, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Does the atats on battle front 2 count because those took a lot of charged up shoot form the dish shaped guns on battle front 2 Lord Titze the Dark Wanderer 03:27, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Cameo Question?

I have heard that Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett) is also the Imperial Officer who grabs Leia when she says "Luke don't, it's a trap!" to Luke in Cloud City. Can anyone confirm this? I couldn't find anything relating to it in the "what links here" part of his page, except here Talk:List of cameos in Star Wars -- GMo 05:31, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

  • found it on imdb. Should this be added to the Trivia area on this article? GMo 05:41, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

"After an extra fell sick, Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett) was called in as a replacement to the Imperial Guard who escorts Princess Leia and pulls her into the elevator after she screams "Luke! It's a trap!". He's the same Imperial Guard who is captured by Lando Calrissian's men."

  • ugh and it's even on his page.. wow I'm going to bed now haha GMo 05:41, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Poster on page

I'm sick and tired of seeing that old poster for "The Empire Strikes Back" on the front page. It elaborates on Hoth too much and is kinda ugly. I think that we should hold a vote between that one and the better, original teaser poster. LukeSkywalker File:Empire strikes back old.jpg|Image 1 File:Empire teaser poster.jpg|Image 2

Han Solo in Carbonite

Don't any of you think it's strange that Han Solo manages to put his hands up if he gets frozen, when actually his hands are tied to his back (or front, don't know for sure)?

His hands are cuffed, and he's letting his arms hang when he enters the carbonite chamber. and yes, when he's frozen, there's no way he could get his arms into the position seen in the carbonite. classify it as a simple mistake. Unatco 03:02, Aug 9 2007 (PDT)

Flying the Falcon from Hoth to Bespin

This is something that's really been bothering me. How does Han fly the Falcon from the Hoth system to the Bespin system without a functioning hyperdrive? Even the closest star systems are a couple of light years away from each other, and in an area like the Outer Rim the distances are likely to be even further. Without a hyperdrive, it would take the Falcon hundreds of years at the least to fly from Hoth to Bespin. It seems like a rather serious error on the writer's part. But then, George has never been known for realism or continuity. Any ideas? Unatco 03:06, Aug 9 2007 (PDT)

Short-ranged, backup hyperdrive with a long charge time is the generally accepted theory.

  • According to the Essential Atlas, they limped to Bespin with a backup hyperdrive over a period of weeks. Mushroome 16:31, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

Also, the broken hyperdrive serves as a good plot point since it implies that Luke could actually train with Yoda for a few weeks/months while Solo and Leia were traveling. Path-x 13:19, August 5, 2010 (UTC)

1995 Re-Release

I found two 1995 Re-Releases of "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi" at a local Flea Market. Are these these the original unaltered versions of the films? I'm not sure, because they do not say "Episode V" or "Episode VI" on them. A little help please?98.229.173.98 20:11, May 25, 2010 (UTC)
