- "I'm really just an ordinary guy who got lucky wearing a very memorable suit."
- ―Jeremy Bulloch summing up his life with Star Wars
Jeremy Bulloch (February 16, 1945 – December 17, 2020) was a British actor best known for playing Boba Fett in Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi. He was producer Robert Watts's half-brother.
His other major roles were in the 1963 film Summer Holiday, the BBC television series Doctor Who during the 1970s, and the 1983 James Bond film Octopussy.[2][4]
Biography
Jeremy Bulloch poses as the bounty hunter Boba Fett.
Jeremy Bulloch was born in 1945 in Market Harborough in Leicestershire, England.[2][4]
Although Bulloch wore the Boba Fett costume, the voice of the character (prior to being replaced with Temuera Morrison's in the 2004 DVD) was Jason Wingreen. According to Bulloch in an interview, he stumbled over Boba Fett's line from Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back where he watches a pair of stormtroopers load Han Solo on the Slave I: although Fett says "Put Captain Solo in the cargo hold" on-screen, Bulloch recalls saying "Put Captain cargo in the Solo hold" during that take.[5]
Bulloch also played Lieutenant Sheckil after the original actor was unable to perform. He later had a cameo in Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith as Captain Jeremoch Colton piloting the Tantive III.
Bulloch joined David Prowse, Michael Sheard, and Orli Shoshan in the UK fan film Order of the Sith: Vengeance and its sequel, Downfall. Jeremy played the father and commanding officer of the main character, Fuser Marucs. The films were made in support of Save the Children. He made a cameo as himself (a convention attendee) in the Paducah Imperials FanForce feature-length fan film Star Wars Fanboy, ironically muttering the words of Han Solo in Return of the Jedi: "Boba Fett? Where?"
On December 17, 2020, Bulloch passed away from Parkinson's disease in hospital at the age of 75, surrounded by his family. Fellow Star Wars stars Mark Hamill and Daniel Logan as well as the Boba Fett Fan Club issued messages of condolences to him. Bulloch left behind a wife, three sons, and ten grandchildren.[2][4]
