Opening Scrawls

If anybody wants to put the scrawls up on this page, here is the Rebellion Campaign opening scrawl, I'll do Empire later: Rebellion! from scattered pockets of resistance across the galaxy a group of freedom fighters known as the rebel alliance forms the challenge the awesome power of the Galactic empire.

Relying on cunning and strategy to strike at imperial targets the rebels have located prototypes of the devastating new X-wing fighter and plan a bold raid to acquire them

A ragtg fleet of rebel starships led by captain Raymus antilles in his specialy designed flagship the sundered Heart move into formation for the assault. Natonstan 16:33, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

1.02 compatible mods?

I was looking around and I couldn't tell whether or not you need v1.02 to play mods for this game. If someone could give me confirmation of my beliefs, I would be greatly obliged. Sincerely, Darth Metus 16:37, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

Halo Mod

I added the Halo: First Offensive (http://halo.eawnexus.com/forums/index.php} mod to the Incomplete mod list. I'm just posting this so no one goes "That's not true! I'm so smart!" and deletes it, which seems to be a common occurance here. Unsigned comment by Shadow Blood (talk • contribs)

Kyle Katarn and other "hidden" units...

Mara Jade, Kyle Katarn, and General Veers are not hidden units. Jade and Katarn are in the skirmish modes and Veers appears in the campaign as well as Galactic Conquest, which is why I removed them from the list. If I was wrong please add them back. Thanks. CaptJim 01:54, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

Taris

Someone knows something about Taris' appearance in the game? Is it rebuilt? A barren wastleland? Something? Unsigned comment by 85.250.247.255 (talk • contribs)

  • Looks like they rebuilt most of the cities in the course of 4000 years, judging by the screenshots. Similar architecture, too. Looks very "Coruscant-ish" from orbit. VT-16 14:52, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

What gets me is that the populus is supporting the Galactic Empire, which is ruled by the Sith. The Sith destroyed their planet during the Jedi Civil War, so what is with that? Unsigned comment by 66.189.67.134 (talk • contribs)

Demo

A demo came out today, with a tutorial for both sides (rebel and Imperial) and a short Rebel campaign featuring Hoth, an asteroid field, and Tatooine, with both land and space battles.

Good luck finding a place without insanely slow download times. ~~

  • I've played it through a few times already, it was pretty neat. I got very good download speeds at GamersHell, but I think it's clogged up now. The demo seemed very promising. I really like how they've combined the space and ground battles; when I had Y-wings stationed over Tatooine I could call in bombing runs to help the ground troops. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the real thing. Unsigned comment by Juha (talk • contribs)
  • It's a huge DL, so most places are clogged with pushing 700+ MB. The demo is disappointing. --SparqMan 19:04, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
  • I'm fond of it myself, though the tech tree does seem disappointingly small. I do like the space combat and resource system, as well as capturing planets for bonuses and the hero units. I just wish there was more variety with the vehicles and vessels. Unsigned comment by LightWarden (talk • contribs)

Keep in mind that there are already a few mods out that will breathe some life into the demo. One unlocks the entire Rebel Tech Tree for you for ground and space, and another unlocks Geonosis and allows you to play as the Empire. You can use the Death Star, and some have reported that they have successfully attacked planets, though even if they attack a place as barren and volcanic as Sullust, a Tutorial Map will be used. how do u get Venator-class Star Destroyer in the demo?

-Darth Tader

  • It is impossible to build them....honestly. If you edit the XML files you can.NOTE: it is called the jedi cruiser, copy the data file and move it somewhere you can find it but not in Data folder so if you screw up the game you can replace it with the good one you saved, be careful;it is easy to get confused and mess something up unless you are good at it, like me.Star Destroyer 2500 21:41, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

Canon Status

What's the canon status for this game? It should be written. --UVnet 23:32, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

  • Several points contradict established canon. The first point is in the main Rebellion campaign, future Admiral Ackbar is rescued following the storming of an orbital research institute. This is in contrast with his rescue as depicted in the video game X-Wing, with Rebel forces ambushing an Imperial convoy. Captain Raymus Antilles is portrayed as being Captain Colton Antilles, being commander of the Tantive IV during the ISD Devastator's capture of the ship. In the game, it is reported in the Rebellion campaign, that Tantive IV was captured, and Raymus was presumed dead. In addition, several ships appear to have replaced the niche of other ships in the canon. The Tartan class light cruiser seems to have replaced the role of the Carrack Cruiser, or the later Lancer Frigate. The Marauder Corvette was used principally as a light policing cruiser by the Corporate Sector Authority, is depicted as a missile cruiser. The Imperial variant, the "Broadside Cruiser," does not appear in any other canonical sources.

The Imperial stormtroopers seem to use a previously unidentified blaster rifle/carbine rather than the typical E-11 blaster carbine. On worlds with a desert or arctic climate, they utilize the DLT-20A or the E-17D blaster or sniper rifle. Beyond trivialities, several events seem implausible. In the game, Han Solo works as both saboteur, spy, and commando for the Rebellion at a time when he was active in the Corporate Sector. Mara Jade, three (ONE is cannon) years younger than Luke Skywalker, would be at most fifteen years old at the time of the game. Also, the idea that the Rebellion would actively conquer and hold worlds is inherently lacking canonical support. Unsigned comment by 166.82.48.244 (talk • contribs)

  • How about we include anything that doesn't contradict with what's already stated as canon? DAWUSS 22:04, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
  • There's a type of Rebel soldier mentioned in SW: Rebellion as being used to incite uprisings on Imperial worlds, and also subdue uprisings and insurrections on Alliance worlds. So the Alliance would hold worlds (mostly in the Outer Rim, though). I also believe Raymus Antilles commanded the Sundered Heart (a modified CR90 corvette), while his son, Colton, had the Tantive IV. Apparently both men died during the debacle in the Tatooine system. That is, if that part of the "First Battle of Tatooine (Galactic Civil War)" article isn't made up. VT-16 18:16, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
    • Actually, he, for some reason, was piloting an X-wing during the battle. During the part where Blue Squadron was scouting the area, a pilot says, "Quiet. What happened to the pirate resistance force? What do you think, blue leader?" (or something like that.) Raymus responded, making him seem like one of the pilots of the x-wings. Lt. 1993 22:07, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

Is any part of this game actually canon? A large portion of the game is contradictory to established canon or is completely new. Just wondering. Azzt Rhell 22:19, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

Conquest

Well the game has been out for some time and it appers to me unfinished like they were going to develop a free-er way to play but time constrictions most likely set the full version back. It is a wonderful game challenging in the Land battles, the Space battles are where its at truely EaW has defined Strategic Space Warfare that can be improved upon i would love to see an expanstion soon or even a good appemt to make a full mod that is installable.--Kyrias 07:37, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

  • They mentioned several months ago that Mustafar and the other CW planets would serve a purpose "in due time", so that basically confirmed an expansion. :) VT-16 18:08, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

Acclamators

Are the Acclamators in the game Mk IIs? They seem more like assault ships rather than transports. Kuralyov 02:49, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

  • That's what I thought as well. The Acclamators in EAW are meant for combat, and thus would probably be of the Mk. II model. The Acclamators in SW:Empire only carried prisoners and walkers, and would fit the Mk. I purpose. VT-16 18:06, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

Venators, V-Wings, Tie Advanced, and the Pirate Ships

Where can you see these? I can guess the TIE/a and V-Wings come in the campaign, haven't gotten that far yet, but the pirate stations don't have any Venators for sale.

Also, where can I find info about the Pirate Fighters, Pirate Patrol Ship, and Pirate Frigate? They don't have any name ingame, and I want to have some more info.

Thank in advance. :) 83.227.160.135 20:49, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

  • I found out about the Pirate Ships; Pirate interceptor cruiser was one of the ships, and IPV/1 Patrol Craft is another. Still have no idea what the Pirate Fighters are for fighters. Was going to look at a Black Sun Fleet List here on Wiki, but I can't seem to find any. If anyone has any clues, please respond here. Oh, and my mind didn't process that Darth Vader used the TIE/a, although that's something I've known for years. Still don't know where the Venators or V-Wings appear, though. 83.227.160.135 03:45, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
    • I remember seeing a Black Sun fighter (or a Hutt fighter, can't remember) from SW:Galaxies being used as a pirate fighter, but I have no idea if that was in promotional screenshots, the demo or the actual final game. Also, I see someone put up the Venator again. The same question applies there: Where is it found? In the demo or in the actual game (no mods, I'm talking about the original, un-touched final version of the game). VT-16 11:15, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
      • Yep, I found it. It's this one: Rihkxyrk Attack Ship. Rutkowski 14:37, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
        • Fixed the info concerning the Venators, and I added the pirate ships. Feel free to clean it up, I'm not very talented with Wiki. Rutkowski 04:42, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
          • You can only get Venators by editing the XML files; and theyre called jedi cruisers. Be careful editing the XML files can screw up the game so keep a backup datafile.Star Destroyer 2500 14:09, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

Hidden Units

Added in a section concerning removed or hidden units in the game. It's late, I'll touch it up tomorrow. Trucidar 07:49, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

  • Certain units can be enabled via editting of the XML, MEG, and DAT files. The ones listed as (Unlocked) were comeplete enough to recover a workable unit, and as such, are available on websites like the Fan Forums for download. Unsigned comment by Trucidar (talk • contribs)

Asteroid rings

Is it just me, or does every planet on EaW have an asteroid ring in orbit? I haven't actually played the game, but every planetary screenshot on Wookieepedia seems to posses an asteroid belt. Am I missing something? -- SFH 00:04, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

  • I think they were put in for a strategic reason.. but it doesn't make sense. What you say is true, though. Every planet has an asteroid belt and one or two nebulas. A bunch of planets even have fierce electrical storms in areas.. which I highly doubt would be around every planet. Trucidar 03:21, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
    • Yes. Nebulas! I mean even in Star Trek they were not like nebulas in the real world. But at least they weren't next to planets.--TeakHoken91.7.46.169 14:36, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

A-Wings

Anyone think that the A-wings in this game are actually referring to R-22 A-wings, not RZ-1 A-wings? It would make more sense as to why they are present so early on. Trucidar 21:48, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

  • Places have said it may have been the R-22 Spearhead, an earlier version of the A-wing.Star Destroyer 2500 21:49, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
    • Maybe. But as there is almost nothing canonical, why should they?--TeakHoken91.7.46.169 14:38, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Inconsistancies

I've looked at the inconsistancies, and do not think that they are legitimate. But I don't want to delete them unless others agree.

  • First off, the presence of Acclamators for the Galactic Empire. This makes sense. The Empire could not disband it's entire fleet of Acclamators before replacing them, which takes time. Therefore, it is a reasonable assumption by Empire at War that they were phased out, but still saw action against the rebellion. They could not have suddenly just disappeared at the start of the Rebellion.
  • Secondly, the A-wings in this game could be referring to the original rebel A-wings, which present at the Battle of Yavin, meaning it's possible for them to be in the game.
  • Lastly, Palpatine discovered Wayland and established his storehouse there.. meaning it was known to the Empire, and therefore could be seen in this game.

So what are your thoughts? Trucidar 05:19, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

I say delete them all, you are pretty correct. On the first note, I can also remind you that Acclamators, although the MK.I version, were used by the New Republic against the Yuuzhan Vong.Rutkowski 12:37, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

I agree. I also think the whole "Victory" argument is stupid. The Rebellions first Major victory was Yavin. Doesn't it was their first victory of any size. 67.175.123.49

I found that the last mission in Empire Campaign is inconsistent with established canon, and it is supposed to build up to the events of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. In that mission, you are required to destroy Yavin IV and Hoth or conquer them. According to established canon, the Death Star only destroyed Alderaan. The Empire did not invade Hoth when Death Star I existed. The Empire invaded Yavin IV only after the Death Star was destroyed. Tedius Zanarukando 06:11, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Those aren't cannon the devs and anyone else involved figured that people would use common sense to figure that out Wswordsmen

As for the subject of the Rebellion winning victories before Yavin, even the introductory credits in A New Hope(at least as of the '97 special edition; I've yet to see if the DVD version's credits say the same thing) state that the Rebels had won their first major victory before Yavin, and it was in this victory that the Rebellion had gained access to the Death Star plans. Will 17:28, 31 January 2007 (UTC)William S. Are the listed Mods allowed to creat a wookieepedia subpage?

As part of Ultimate EaW I'd like to add a detailed webpage on our Mod to the Wookieepedia, including some screenshots etc... Is that allowed here? UEAW is (v3.2.2) and will be stricly canon, of course. (Fynbos 14:33, 23 January 2007 (UTC))

  • I don't believe that's allowed, at least not here. However, Petropedia does accept detailed mod pages (it's where the IA2 one is). Jorrel Fraajic Wiki-shrinkable 15:17, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
    • I'd say they should give it a try. The texts will be professional and since those games seems to be a major strategy playing point in Star Wars Universe, they should be considered to all extents, though making it clear that some are fanon and some canon. Also an argument would be, that Petropedia is only on PetroGames and the vast amount of non-Petry Star Wars Games would bring up the idea of generating a platform for company-independent Softwares. Some mods claim to have larger download counts then orginal Addons for games were sold at all (for example the Steiner Mod for EAW / B-Wing mission disk to X-Wing Game) I'd like to give it a try. Calamari Star Cruiser

I'm not too good with starships, but aren't the Calamari Cruisers in EaW MC80's? They sure look like ones. And since those apparently weren't invented until after Endor, that seems like yet another inconsistency. And it couldn't have been the MC40, since that was designed some time before Hoth. There are other calamari craft that did exist at the time, but they don't look like the vessels in-game. Any theories, or is this something for the inconsistencies list? DarthMRN 15:44, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

  • According to the instruction booklet included in the packaging(which may or may not be accurate), they are indeed MC80's. Grand Moff Rhell 23:50, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Why is that? You can clearly see MC80s in ROTJ? Where does it say they were invented only "after Endor"? 84.152.98.59 17:13, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Engine Trouble

Don't even try to retreat into hyperspace in a space battle if your engines blew. You wouldn't be able to get away. This is only for frgates and main warships so this doesn't affect fighters, but who cares about fighters? This works well in galactic conquest if someone is on board a ship like Obi-Wan and Mon Mothma and the fleet is going to retreat. In my file all the enemy fleets have like forty transports and always retreat when they have the chance. This is where Interdicter Cruisers come in handy. "The game is reminiscent of Rome: Total War." Unless EaW uses the same game engine as Rome: Total War it doesn't seem correct to say it's reminciscent. Command & Conquer Reference

Isn't the T-4B Heavy Tank a reference to the Mammoth Tank from the Command and Conquer series. The Petroglyph team did make C&C when they were Westwood Studios, Right? -- QX100 03:02, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

Check the T-4B page. It has a paragraph mentioning the homage. Yes, the core staff members at Petroglyph are ex-Westwood Studios employees. Phillowe88 13:10, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Liberation of Kashyyyk

There are two missions in this game, each from the perspective of the Empire and Rebellion respectively, which involve Han Solo attempting to break out Chewbacca from an Imperial prison colony on Kashyyyk, with some aid from the Rebels. As of now, no article exists on this skirmish. Is it not considered canon? And if so, which mission is the more accurate portrayal? 76.104.153.55 02:08, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

battle of tatooine

I havent played all the Rebel campaign, but is it true that one of the missions is the Battle above Tatooine? And is it true that Sundered Heart participates? MoffRebus 05:19, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

Actually, one of the missions of the Imperial campaign portrays the portion of the First Battle of Tatooine (Galactic Civil War) immediately before the Tantive IV is captured by the Star Destroyer Devastator. I believe the mission is called "To Capture a Princess," or something to that extent. In the Rebel campaign, both Raymus Antilles and R2-D2/C-3PO leave at some point before the Destruction of Alderaan and the arrival of the Death Star on the campaign map...after which R2-D2 and C-3PO soon reappear (but not Antilles, of course... he's dead!). Land Kessel Run

My computer goes...crazy when I do the Kessel Run 1 skirmish.Either it's that my game got scratched or it's all this download junk on my machine.

  • Disks don't apply anymore after installation. All the data is on the hard disk. If you downloaded some mods it wouldn't surprise me if it's throwing off the mission. Giga Hertz 19:55, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

Wayland in G.C. mode

Hello. I impulsively bought EaW this summer and have recently moved on from skirmish to galactic conquest and noticed something I just don't get. What is the structure-area on the mountainside on Wayland? It's gray (no faction ownership), has two anti-aircraft turrets at the edge and a droid interface at a camouflaged doorway, but I can't get to it/capture it with any of my units. I've tried R2, Fett, Imp. probe (which won't go landside anyway), etc. Is this just window dressing??

Thanks. Steve

Hidden units

Sorry that this isn't really about improving the artcle, but does any body know how to enable the hidden units? I found them, but I don't want to mess anything up.

  • where are they? id like to get a few of them, could some one please tell me RogueJedi 21:27, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

No contradiction with Death Star plans story

The missions to retrieve the Death Star plans in this game specifically end with Mon Mothma noting that the plans you've stolen from over the surface of Corulag merely describe the *existence* of the Death Star, but provide nowhere near enough technical detail in order to find a weakness. She then states that they're going to have to look for a "technical readout" that might provide such a weakness -- thus very clearly stating that rather than being "parallel" to Operation Skyhook the missions in this game take place BEFORE Operation Skyhook. There is therefore no inconsistency here.

White

When I start the game, there is a cloud of white things blockeing the color so I cna't see th units nor map. Does anyone have a solution?Narnian

Medicore?

I own and have played Force Commander and it is one of the best strategy games I have ever seen. Why everyone bashes it as medicore I will never know. However be that as it may the statment of mediocrity is a matter of opinion so I feel the article would better read as "percieved mediocrity" instead. 64.235.77.3 23:53, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

Identity of the "Merchant Freighter"

What exactly is the model of the "Merchant Freighter"? It's unlockable from the map editing software, and looks like this. It's evidently a YT-style freighter, but does anyone know the specifics so we can put it up in the list? Lieutenant Caminus 13:27, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

"All Era Mega Mod"

Ok, in the Empire at War Mods section, keep something called the "All Era Mega Mod" out of that section for good. That mod has lots of stolen models and others stuff in it, no credits, no permission, no nothing. Its illegal, and thus shouldn't be on there. Unsigned comment by 74.50.243.147 (talk • contribs)

Victory I or II-class Star Destroyers?

When I saw pictures on both of Wookieepedia's pages on the Victory I and II-class Star Destroyers, both were from Star Wars: Empire at War. Which class was really in Empire at War?

The Victory II-class Star Destroyer is almost certainly the depicted class, because they have ion cannons, a feature only present on the Victory II, though the Victory I looks like that. Zeta1127,89thLegion 18:27, July 8, 2010 (UTC)

Have you seen the victory 2's in star wars battlefront 2. they look nothing like the ones in eaw. that makes me think the ones in eaw are the victory 1's Unsigned comment by 205.242.95.136 (talk • contribs)

Seems to be missing the Sensor Pods that Boba Fett needs to destroy in Empire Campaign mission 4.

  • If it is a fan-made mod, not official DLC or extra content, then it has no place in Wookieepedia.--Dionne Jinn (Something to say?) 20:49, October 2, 2015 (UTC)
  • (it was made by the games developers otherwise why was there an update for the mod with the official developer and copywrite in it)--66.154.211.254 21:45, October 2, 2015 (UTC)
  • If it is official, you are free to add the info to the article yourself, just remember to source it properly. And what comes to your question on my talk page, some games are designed in a way that makes them easy to mod, and the developers encourage the player to mod them, they do not remove the mods.--Dionne Jinn (Something to say?) 06:07, October 3, 2015 (UTC)
