Legends and Canon content

Looks like some people can't tell what Legends and what's canon... Everything in the Legends section is Canon. The 2008 Clone Wars cartoon is canon to the series, it does not belong in Legends. I could name a few other pages like this but I can't remember. So basically any page that is like this one needs to be fixed.

  • 2008 Clone Wars is both Legends and Canon. Brules Brules signature Chat 19:13, September 28, 2016 (UTC)
  • What makes you think that? --TheBlackDemon1996 (talk) 19:15, September 28, 2016 (UTC)
    • It was released long before the 2014 canon reboot. Brules Brules signature Chat 20:50, September 28, 2016 (UTC)
      • Just so I can hear all sides of you argument how does that make it "both legends and canon"? --TheBlackDemon1996 (talk) 21:06, September 28, 2016 (UTC)
        • Allow me to clarify—admittedly, and no offense to Brules, Wookieepedians historically have not done a great job explaining that. What it means is this: The Clone Wars is a Canon subject. Here on Wookieepedia, we include information from TCW in Canon and Legends pages. That's because a lot of TCW Legends material depends on information from the show. Most TCW subjects also have some sort of Legends information or source associated with them. Because of that, we have Canon pages and Legends pages for TCW subjects. In the case of Pong Krell, the Legends page has more information on it simply because no one has written a full Canon version yet. I hope that clears things up for you. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 21:10, September 28, 2016 (UTC)
          • Not really... it seems that all the Canon stuff is in the Legends page while the Canon page is like "...Um... I'm still here guys..." --TheBlackDemon1996 (talk) 21:15, September 28, 2016 (UTC)
            • Yup. Like I said, we include relevant TCW info in Legends pages, and TCW subjects have Legends pages for the reasons I mentioned before. There are a number of references in the Sources section of his Legends page that are from before 2014, before the reboot. As for the Canon page, it's waiting for someone to write it. That someone could be you if you're interested! - Brandon Rhea(talk) 21:52, September 28, 2016 (UTC)
              • I'm not going to write it if I feel like it's already been written on the wrong page. If I did I'd just cut and passed the pages, but we both know that ain't gonna last for long... --TheBlackDemon1996 (talk) 21:56, September 28, 2016 (UTC)
                • Copying and pasting would be bad for Search Engine Optimization, since Google and other search engines penalize duplicate content like that. That's why we've been rewriting Canon pages since the reboot, rather than just copying and pasting everything. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 22:01, September 28, 2016 (UTC)
                  • See? So why not make it simpler and have it so the Canon page has all the info and the Legends page doesn't? That way if anything mentioned in the Canon page isn't Canon they can just move it to the Legends page? --TheBlackDemon1996 (talk) 22:05, September 28, 2016 (UTC)
                    • Linking is also a factor. For example, Captain Rex has Legends stories about him, so he has CT-7567/Legends. In order to tell those Legends stories in a way that make sense, we also include info on that page from the show. That means we link to Pong Krell. Having a Legends page for Pong Krell, for example, lets us not only document Legends-centric sources about Pong Krell, but lets us avoid linking to Canon pages in Legends pages. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 22:15, September 28, 2016 (UTC)
                      • Well that's easy. Just paste it in Microsoft word or whatever writing implement you have and replace the Legends link with the Canon link... --TheBlackDemon1996 (talk) 22:19, September 28, 2016 (UTC)
                        • It's not a matter of difficulty in changing the links. What I mean is the community here decided not to link to Canon pages from Legends pages. It would take a new vote to change that. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 22:25, September 28, 2016 (UTC)
                          • Well then don't... Just put the info where it should... Why is this so hard to understand? Just move the info change the links so they don't lead to the wrong canon and then the wiki will be more accurate. --TheBlackDemon1996 (talk) 22:28, September 28, 2016 (UTC)

I've explained to you what the community decided, and how it's operated for the last 2 and a half years. I'm afraid I can't make it any clearer than that. If you disagree, you will need to start a vote to change that stance and convince enough users to agree with you. That is the way that Wookieepedia operates. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 22:33, September 28, 2016 (UTC)

  • Alright. Thanks for explaining as best ye could. --TheBlackDemon1996 (talk) 22:36, September 28, 2016 (UTC)
    • No problem. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 22:59, September 28, 2016 (UTC)
      • Sorry for my poor explanation. I was in the middle of class, and on my phone at the time. Brules Brules signature Chat 23:02, September 28, 2016 (UTC)

Can an admin protect this article because of all the vandalism and edit-wars happening between an unregistered user and several other registered users? --OOM-89 (talk) 23:47, July 2, 2018 (UTC)
