Last to Die
It is confirmed in the Visual Dictionary (which is G-canon) that Nute Gunray is the last of the Separatist council to be killed by Anakin on Mustafar. -- Lord Patrick
"Neimoidians are cunning political manipulators, but they are also untrustworthy and cowardly." - that feels like a sweeping statement to make. --SparqMan 14:18, 18 May 2005 (UTC)

"He was alleged to be having an affair with Lora Besh, who in 22 BBY, just before the start of the Clone Wars, released an unauthorized biography of Gunray, entitled Gunray On Top. It spent at least several months as a top-ten bestseller, and its sales may have increased due to its subject's involvement in the war" - Is this for real? Sounds like a prank to me.--Spanky The Dolphin 00:32, 1 Aug 2005 (UTC)

- In the novelization of Star Wars episode 3, Nute seems to keep repeating himself like "The war...the war is over. Lord Sidious promised...he promised we would be left in peace". Why does he do that?-Wattambor2000
- The obvious answer would be that he thought the war was over, and Sidious promised that they would be left in peace. — Silly Dan 01:30, 14 Aug 2005 (UTC)
I'm not so sure about that. The website only mentions the book. I think who ever wrote that must've been thinking about Nute Gray's Affair with Lora Bush
- First of all: Don't post in the middle of a discussion. And it's Nute Gunray and Lora Besh. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)

Succession box
Yet again, this article is plagued with an unhelpful, odd succession box. Nute Gunray was not preceded by General Grievous. Grievous was not the Head of State of the Confederacy and Gunray was not its military leader. --SparqMan 20:22, 5 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- Actually, after Count Dooku's death, General Grievous became the acting leader of the CIS. After word of Grievous's defeat and death on Utapau, Gunray (being the leader of the (allegedly) largest faction under Separatist control) became the next and last acting Head of State for the Separatists. Cmdr. J. Nebulax 21:25, 5 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- Really? Is there a source on that? --SparqMan 04:24, 6 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, I have read it somewhere. Once I find the source, I will make sure to post it here. Cmdr. J. Nebulax 22:59, 6 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- Given your inaccuracy on the other CIS succession box, I will remove it for now. If you find a source, share it and we can add it back in. --SparqMan 15:16, 7 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- What inaccuracy on the other CIS succession boxes? I fixed them to make them right. Cmdr. J. Nebulax 20:16, 7 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- The Grievous box, which has GG as Gunray's successor. There are no overall CIS leaders besides Dooku and Grievous. The Councilors each lead a different guild, not the CIS itself, regardless of what you may have read - Kwenn
- Since I couldn't find the source of the information, I changed the succession box on Grievous's page. Cmdr. J. Nebulax 22:15, 7 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Last Edit
Okay, let me say just one thing: The last edit was complete crap. It deserves to be redone into the way it was before the major edit. That's why I'm changing it. Cmdr. J. Nebulax 19:43, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)
What was wrong with the last edit? It seemed to have a lot more information.
- More like too much information. Do you have any idea how long it took me to read, let alone redo the article? What was there, and is there now, is fine. If you have something to add, please don't rewrite the entire article when you can just add the information into the appropiate spot on the article. Cmdr. J. Nebulax 23:02, 9 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Age?
Does anyone know Gunray's age at his death? I'm planning on looking it up throughout the rest of the Internet, but if anyone here knows it, please tell me. Cmdr. J. Nebulax 14:53, 10 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Nute on Fire
I think we should include a line in behind the scenes that Nute was originally going to be killed by Jango Fett's flamethrower in the arena.

Have you ever encountered a Jedi Knight before?
The article curently reads "...during which Gunray commanded his battle droid bodyguards to open fire—without specifying the enemy. Jedi Master Tyvokka was gunned down by Nute's droids, though the cowardly Neimoidian demanded the surviving Jedi help him to his ship." But in Episode I he says he has never encountered a Jedi. Mistake?
If so we should go with the Movie, as G-canon.
- He had clear, undeniable dealings with the Jedi during the Stark Hyperspace War. It's in the nature of Nemoidians to lie, so it's not really a contradiction. Anyways, here's the exact quote from TPM:
- "RUNE : Have you ever encountered a Jedi Knight before, sir?"
- "NUTE : Well, not exactly, but I don't..." --LtNOWIS 22:54, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Quotes
The head quote tells exactly nothing about Gunray. It's a rather poor choice, in my opinion. Furthermore, this excessive linking in quotes has got to stop. For example:
This is ripe with excessive linking, and looks plain silly. Links to the subjects linked here, are already found in the article, and it is already implied that Gunray speaks on behalf of the Trade Federation to Amidala, both in the quote itself (notice the "Nute Gunray to ..." bit) and in the article. In fact, there should be something about this in the manual of style. --Imp 19:10, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
- So we can't have links to show what certain things mean in quotes? That's stupid. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)
19:13, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
- It's not needed to explain everything in a quote with a link. If it requires you to do so, it's not a very useful quote. Plus, linking everything makes the article look awkward. --Imp 19:23, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

Why is there a ROTS emphasis on this article? The lead quote is awful, it says nothing about the character of Gunray, and there should be a TPM image .... 06:07, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

FA Failure
Ah, yes, one of the flaws of Wookieepedia's FA system. Why did it fail? I'm curious because I'm going to start work on this article, but barring a personality/traits section (and a better quote), I don't see what's wrong with it. .... 00:30, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Main photo dispute
Okay, there seems to be a dispute between Redemption and Fourdot over the main image of Nute Gunray. The Episode III page is said to be of better quality, yet lacks a source. The Episode I screenshot is said to be of poorer quality, yet cites its sources. Personally, I've never understood why people get so bent out of shape over images, but it is nearly 9:00pm here in California, and I just got of work a little while ago, so lets try to be reasonable here. From what I've seen, Fourdot would like a source for the Promo image. Redemption, could you please provide one? -- SFH 04:43, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
- If I had a source, don't you think I would have put it up? We know it's official. I don't see how it should affect it's FA nomination. --Redemption

- Despite it being obviously official, it's a pot-hole in the road to being an FA, since FA's should have all images sourced. So let's just have the other image in for the time being. During which time, Redemption or someone else can find the source, or we can find a new, better image. .... 07:33, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
- There's no point in changing the image just so the article can become a FA and then change it back afterwards. Thefourdot, while I appreciate your attempts at bringing articles up to FA status, I think that idea is very pointless. Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)

WTF?
"Gunray was alleged to be having an affair with Lora Besh, who, in 22 BBY, just before the start of the Clone Wars, released an unauthorized biography of Gunray, entitled Gunray On Top. It spent at least several months as a top-ten bestseller, and its sales may have increased due to its subject's involvement in the war."

Replace Sidious with Dooku?
- "The Viceroy of the Trade Federation was once in league with this Darth Sidious. But he was betrayed ten years ago by the Dark Lord. He came to me for help. He told me everything. The Jedi Council would not believe him. I tried many times to warn them but they wouldn't listen to me. Once they sensed the Dark Lord's presence, it would then be too late. You must join me, Obi-Wan, and together we will destroy the Sith."
- ―Count Dooku
To me, this contradicts the first paragraph of "Clone Wars" in this article: After four trials in the Republic Supreme Court, Gunray still maintained control over the Trade Federation, although several of his associates were killed in the Battle of Naboo. Sidious then instructed Gunray to join the Confederacy of Independent Systems, which wished to secede from the Galactic Republic. The article says that Gunray was still in league with Sidious, while Dooku's line suggests that Gunray ran away from Sidious and allied with Dooku (obviously unaware of Dooku's alliance with Sidious). There are different options (Dooku might be misleading Kenobi with blatant lies; or maybe it happened as he said and, at that point, Gunray believed that Sidious was unrelated to the C.S.I.). However, we are still talking about the movies, the hightest canon. What's exactly the source for the information in bold? - Skippy Farlstendoiro 11:22, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
- It's very likely Dooku said that to Kenobi only to make it seem like he was the good guy, so that Kenobi would join the Confederacy. —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)
