Is this even a thing?

Are we certain that Sabine's line was indeed referring to a person rather than the planet? --LelalMekha (talk) 01:12, January 29, 2016 (UTC)

  • Under Pre Vizsla's entry in Ultimate Star Wars, it says he and Maul were both the Mandalore during the Clone Wars. So that answers half your question. :P 01:14, January 29, 2016 (UTC)
    • In addition, some additional context is given to the title in Star Wars: The Clone Wars: The Complete Season Two, but yeah, I think Sabine was referring to the planet. - AV-6R7Crew Pit 01:16, January 29, 2016 (UTC)
      • She was most certainly referring to the individual. She said "Mandalore" as if it were an individual. It would have made absolutely no sense if she was referring to the planet in that context. Darth Ravigious (talk) 01:19, January 29, 2016 (UTC)
        • "The Empire" isn't an individual either. And it does make sense; just replace "Mandalore" with any name of state or country: "Well, who's in charge here, the Empire or the United States?" --LelalMekha (talk) 01:23, January 29, 2016 (UTC)
          • I also agree with Lelal. But on a different note, this page should be moved to Mandalore (title). Cwedin(talk) 01:26, January 29, 2016 (UTC)
            • Yeah, I know, but the Empire is a government that encompasses numerous Star Systems. Mandalore is simply a location. The Empire is an entity, so to speak, whereas Mandalore really kinda isn't at this point (from what we have gathered from Rebels). The Empire is a government. Mandalore, especially by this point, is not, itself being currently a member world of the regime. And I agree, Cwedin.Darth Ravigious (talk) 01:29, January 29, 2016 (UTC)
              • This article should instead be at Mand'alor, which is how the title is spelled in USW. - AV-6R7Crew Pit 01:33, January 29, 2016 (UTC)

Moved it to Mand'alor. Darth Ravigious (talk) 01:40, January 29, 2016 (UTC)

  • Did some massive cleanup, but I'm sure some more information can be added. - AV-6R7Crew Pit 02:45, January 29, 2016 (UTC)

was Darth Maul Mand'alor?

Did Maul become Mand'alor after killing Vizla? Eddo36 (talk) 20:48, October 18, 2016 (UTC)

It would kinda be a no. See while Maul try take the title, it doesn't apply to him because his not Mandalorian, reasons why Bo Katan and Nite Owls didn't follow him. (Halo1091 (talk) 01:49, October 19, 2016 (UTC))

Sabine Wrenn confirmed it in the Rebels TV Show when Maul said 'For did I not once rule your people?' and Sabine says 'unfortunately'--Marco 1907 (talk) 20:54, April 26, 2020 (UTC)

In The Mandalorian

So, in Chapter 3: The Sin the armorer says the following: "When one chooses to walk the way of the Mandalore/Mand'alor, you are both hunter and prey". I think she is referring to a "Mand'alor" as a person, but the planet's name could also make sense. Any thoughts?--HERRERO BOSS (talk) 19:13, November 23, 2019 (UTC)

  • Per the episode's subtitles, she's saying "Mandalore." - Cwedin(talk) 19:15, November 23, 2019 (UTC)

Mand'alor vs. Mandalore

Considering Mandalore the Great is spelled as Mandalore and not Mand'alor, should not the latter spelling trump the former as it is in the Legends article? I can't recall the title Mand'alor being used in canon media outside of source material like Ultimate Star Wars. GokūBlack10 (Talk) 19:04, December 27, 2019 (UTC)

Maul

Maul should be added: You don't need to be human to be a Mandalorian, He won the Darksaber in combat and was recognized by all of Death Watch bar the Nite Owls, and in Rebels his time as ruler was mentioned by him and acknowledged by Sabine. (also apparently Ultimate Star Wars calls him Mand'alor). 84.203.123.31 16:44, 30 January 2022 (UTC)

  • Maul just seized control of the planet and Death Watch, not all the Mandaloiran clans. Fan26 (Talk) 21:36, 30 January 2022 (UTC)

Maul isn't getting addressed & Source needed

In the introduction, it says that the title of Mand'alor "became vacant when Vizsla was killed in a duel with Maul." Where is the proof of this?

As far as I know, which isn't much, there is nothing that directly addresses this issue, but indirectly, what's officially published seems, to me, to be more in favor of Maul having been Mand'alor. In the Mandalorian Creed, all that is said is that "if the Darksaber was won by battle, whoever wielded it could lead all of Mandalore." "Whoever" is very generalized, and it seems that defeating the person who has the dark saber is all that is necessary. Maul was the leader of the planet as well as the people. He won the dark saber fair and square. He was the leader of Death Watch, which was an organization that opposed the pacifist ways of Satine's rule and supported the original warrior culture -- which was the Way. In the article for Mandalorian Protectors, is says that after "two failed attempts [Satine] was murdered by the new ruler, Maul, who had defeated Vizsla in combat and claimed his place," which, to me, indicates that Maul was Mand'alor.

Even if we cannot determine whether or not Maul held the title of Mand'alor, can we at least delete the wording found in the intro I previously mentioned...unless it can be sourced? Red HeathenMainThemeUB Super Secret Hideout 05:13, 29 July 2022 (UTC)

  • No one replied so I changed the verbiage in the intro. I removed that the title was left vacant after Maul killed Pre Vizsla and said that the title passed on to Maul. Red Heathen (talk) 22:07, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
