Needs More

This if freakin sad people. Lando's got like 3 books just about him and how cool he is, and he's got like nothing. People, c'mon. --Death Regis 20:07, 3 May 2005 (UTC)

  • Well, I haven't done anything because I haven't read his books. If you have, then by all means update the article. I probably will be updating it with info from the Han Solo Trilogy at some point in the (hopefully near) future. -- Aidje 20:25, 3 May 2005 (UTC)

  • Sorry for the late answer, they're are official screenshots that have come from the film reels and been digitally modified. When filming in the ancient times (befire digital cameras) the shots had rounded edges. Jasca Ducato 17:13, 14 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Corellian?

Why is Lando listed in the category of Corellians? I've never heard anything about him being from Corellia. -- SFH 17:06, 29 Sep 2005 (UTC)

  • The Star Wars Sourcebook had a character comment that he thought Lando had a hint of a Corellian accent. Other than that, I don't think anything has been established. jSarek 01:28, 30 Sep 2005 (UTC)
    • But it is a persistent (seemingly unkillable) rumor/fanon interpretation, presumably due to his similarity to the Corellian personality stereotype. But until now I wasn't sure whether there was even the tiniest hint of officialness to it, so thanks for that SWSB reference jSarek. At least that's something official, however vague and tenuous. Personally I'd be happy enough if we never find out his homeworld. I bet that's the way the character would prefer to keep it.--Valin Kenobi 07:04, 6 Nov 2005 (UTC)
      • I too had thoughts that Lando might be Corellian, mostly because of his mannerisms and because of the clothing he wears at the end of The Empire Strikes Back. Then again, it's possible that he was borrowing some of Han's clothes, and if Lando does have traces of a Corellian accent, he may have picked it up during his years spent in the Corellian sector on Nar Shaddaa.
        • Corellia is also one of the few systems in the Star Wars galaxy that seem to have black people ;) Yrfeloran 04:27, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

Maneuver at Taanab

Someone needs to add something about Lando's "little manuver" at the Battle of Tanab --Edited by Psycho Xizor

  • There already IS something about his little maneuver at Taanab - Calrissian hid in the ice rings of Taanab's moon. When the pirates approached their marks, he dumped his cargo of Conner nets into the midst of their fleet, temporarily disabling their ships. While they attempted to extricate themselves from the nets, he tractored ice chunks from the rings into their cockpits. He then led Taanab's orbital defense fleet in a mopping up operation, in which Calrissian was responsible for single-handedly destroying nineteen of the remaining vessels and crippling the pirate's two supporting corvettes; the ships were captured with all hands, thanks to Calrissian using yet more Conner nets to secure the escape pods. jSarek 05:19, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

Food for thought on Lando Calrissian's possible origins

Hey, fellow Star Warriors. (I know that sounds cheesy, but I took it from the original Marvel Comics and some of the earliest Dark Horse Comics.) I'm glad I found a site where I can finally post some of my thoughts on some of the "Star Wars" universe's more mysterious characters. This particular idea has been floating around in my head since I completed The Cestus Deception a year or so ago.

As I'm sure most of us know, Lando Calrissian's origins are steeped in mystery, which is the way he likes it. It's possible that he's Corellian, from Bespin, or from some other planet we've either heard of or never heard of. The details of his youth are very spotty, and only a few fragments of it are known due to psychological torments he endured under Rokur Gepta in the Oseon system.

However, in the original drafts of The Empire Strikes Back, Lando was a survivor of the Clone Wars, and his entire family perpetuated through cloning. This version, of course, was not integrated into the film, but it's an interesting thought.

So this all got me thinking. What if Lando is the son of Sheeka Tull and Jangotat? We were never given a last name for Sheeka's first husband Yander (if he even has a last name), so who is to say that it isn't Calrissian? Or, who is to say that Sheeka didn't marry again to a man with the last name Calrissian? Or who is to say that he didn't just make up that name anyway to add to his flair of mystery?

Of course, there's possible flaws with this theory, the foremost being Lando's age. He has been said to be two years older than Han Solo, who is a young boy during the Clone Wars. However, if you take into consideration the fact that Jangotat, as a clone trooper, had accelerated growth, then it would be natural to assume that Lando, if he was his son, inherited that from him.

Another possible flaw with this theory is that Lando is likely to have an ancestor, Galduran Calrissian. Even so, this doesn't disprove that he is related or that he just took the name Calrissian as his own.

Anyway, as I said, it's food for thought. We'll probably never find out where Lando came from, any more than we'll probably never find out where Yoda came from. But sometimes it's fun to speculate. Any thoughts?

    • Well yeah - I had always though Sheeka Tull was black based on her description in the book.
      • Well, just thought I'd add this in before someone else does, but it's official - Lando Calrissian was born on Socorro. Anyway, I'm just glad we have more of an idea of his origins.

          • Underworld: A Galaxy of Scum and Villainy states that he is Socorran. Whether this means he was actually born on Socorro, or was merely of Socorran lineage, is debatable. jSarek 07:05, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Intro

  • I would describe Lando as "a professional gambler, entrepreneur and long-time associate of Han Solo." I don't think he did enough smuggling to include that. What do you think? -Finlayson 00:08, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Mistake in Heir to the Empire

This is really weird, they made it seem like Lando died.... This happened right after he was shot. Lando Calrussuab, the professinal gambler, had gambled one last time. And he'd lost. And the debt from that gamble-the last in a long line of such debts-had come true. Dosnt that sound like they killed him! Its weird! I havent finished the book, but Ill see if Lando is in the rest of the story...

Losing the Falcon to Solo

Landos Return

Anybody know if Lando will come back in the Legacy of the Force series or will his last appearance be The New Jedi Order: The Unifying Force? He was only mentioned in the last three novels they have made, Legacy of the Force: Betrayal, and the Dark Nest Trilogy. Id hate to see him go. Roron Corobb 14:26, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

I'd like to see more of him too; I feel he's one of the most under-used characters in the EU. The current series is going to last 9 books, so my guess is that there'll be a reason for him to show up before the end of it. What with such characters as Admiral Ackbar and Mon Mothma dying of old age and the rather large time gaps between series (5 years between the Dark Nest Trilogy and Legacy of the Force), who knows how much longer he'll last?--HanShotFirst 00:05, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
    • Yes, they need to bring back Lando and his wife, Tendra. I don't suppose there's any chance of him having kids now, though - he must be in his sixties in the Legacy of the Force era. But I would have liked to have seen Lando pass on his genes as did the Skywalkers and Solos.
  • Actually Lando is in his early 70s in the Legacy of the Force era.

Lando's successor as governor of Cloud City

The article says it's been Zorba Desilijic Tiure who succeded Lando as Baron Administrator, but Marvel Star Wars 56 & 57 say it's been Hugo Treece. Is this some discrepancy? --Bender235 13:09, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Not at all. Lando was technically still Baron Administrator in exile at that point, while Treece was the Imperial governor sent to run things in his stead. After Endor, the Ssi-Ruuk, the Nagai, and the Tof, Lando finally went back to ruling from Bespin--at which point, Zorba took over. Thanos6 20:33, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

New Intro Quote

Level of detail

Should we go for a Zayne Carrick-ish article, describing all of Lando's adventures in great detail, or should we lessen the level of detail in the article? --Imp 15:00, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

  • I say we condense it a bit. I mean, the Marvel info we've both added is great, but a full 8 sentence paragraph for a 75 page comic is a little . . . overdone. The problem is, there has to be enough background info for it to make sense. We can still shorten our length some. The level of detail we have for most of the Bantam books is good, if you ask me. The article has several redlinks. I've done a few searches and can't find related articles for them. There's a couple in this sentence: Unfortunately, his turn of good fortune was once again countered with bad luck as his investment in a berubium mine in the Borgo asteroid belt turned out to be worthless. Administrator of Hologram Fun World

I remember reading about Lando becoming the administrator of Hologram Fun World for a short time after the Battle of Yavin. He apparently lost Cloud City. I believe he also became involved in Project Starscream around that time. Does anyone have more info about this.--Lord OblivionSith holocron30px 05:45, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

  • Hologram Fun World was that series of young kids books with the Lost City of the Jedi, and Triclops. I don't have the books with me, but I remember Zorba the hutt cheated and used marked cards to beat him in a game of sabaac to win it from him. Serendipitousus 05:47, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
    • Also in the Galaxy of Fear series, which, for the first six books, revolved around Project Starscream. I think Lando appeared in the fourth. I own these, but I left them at home when I moved out. I could take a look during vacation.--Lord OblivionSith holocron30px 05:53, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
