Non-copyvio article (aka new version of this article)

Torture

I seem to recall Solo being tortured at least three times: by Darth Vader on Cloud City, by Nil Spaar aboard Pride of Yevetha...and another that I can't recall. Can anyone else remember the lost torture session or am I just imagining things? --SparqMan 23:28, 28 Nov 2005 (UTC)

  • Han also gets tortured by the Chiss aboard one of there Star Destroyers as a means to interrogate Leia in Dark Nest III, the Swarm War. - Though in fact this does turn out to be a Han Solo double!

Languages

To Jedi or not to Jedi?

It's mentioned a few times in Swarm War that Han's done so much for them that the rest of the Order actually considers him a member of the Jedi. So do we put him in the Jedi category or take him out? We've had a couple of reverts back and forth, and I don't want this to turn into an edit war.Thanos6 18:44, 7 Jan 2006 (UTC)

  • The category is 'Jedi characters', implying that the characters in the category are Jedi. Han is not actually a Jedi, so he can't be placed in this category. If we had a category for 'Jedi Order' or similar (i.e. subjects that are part of the Order, but aren't necessarily Jedi themselves. I think Lorn Pavan worked at the Temple as part of the maintenance staff at one point, though he wasn't Force-sensitive), he could be placed into that - Kwenn 18:50, 7 Jan 2006 (UTC)
    • Perhaps a "[[Jedi-Auxillary]]" category? Antarian Rangers, Lorn Pavan, Han Solo, Agricultural corps. Its something of a catch-all, but it might be helpful
      • Lorn Pavan did work at the jedi temple but though process of elimination, i figured he was "Fired" because his son was being trained, so i don't think he would totally fit in that category
  • I agree I think he should be consider a member of the Jedi Order but not actually a Jedi as they would be classified as having Force powers.Josh 22:51, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Age

  • Er, we're not really going to take Super Star Wars info over official, verified sources. I believe Leland Chee has a Blog featuring the birth years of the major characters, which confirms Han is 29 in ANH - Kwenn 23:10, 12 Jan 2006 (UTC)

  • I'm chilled out. And actually if he were 31 he and Leia'd be 12 years apart. As it is they're 10 years apart. Seems likda crazy, but why would we judge there ages by their love?
  • It comes from the later Han Solo trilogy, which has a pretty clear timeline and starts 10 years before ANH, with Han 19 years old.
  • Does this mean Han is 69 in Legacy of the Force: Betrayal?!?!!
    • Apparently so. I presume he eats a balanced diet, continues to lead an active lifestyle, and has more advanced medical care than currently exists in the real world. Date of death

I suggest that for the characters whos dates of death are unknown, we simply put "unknown," instead of leaving it blank. My reasoning is because we have to assume that since this takes place long ago, all of these characters would be dead anyway. Putting "unknown" lets the reader know they are considered dead. Drummed out of the Empire?

Forgive me for asking this, but if Han Solo saved Chewbacca from a blaster shot, and ostensibly helped free him, would the Empire simply drum him out? Surely he'd be sentenced to death or imprisoned at least, no one crosses the Empire right? is it not more likely he escaped and it was covered up by his superior to avoid embarassment and possible court martial of those who were supposed to stop him? Han himself recalled his court-martial in The Hutt Gambit. Han was most likely charged with assaulting a superior officer and the loss of Imperial property (one Wookiee slave) - serious enough to get him kicked out, but not enough to warrant execution. They figured that a dishonourable discharge, loss of pension and all back pay, and being stripped of his medals (save the Corellian Bloodstripes) was punishment enough, in addition to being unofficially blacklisted with shipping companies. 218.215.5.113 01:05, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

I know it seems simple enough, and you've probably all realised this, but this quote from the Dark Nest trilogy is a play on the Indiana Jones quote; "Snakes! Why did it have to be sankes?" (Raiders of the Lost Ark)

Anyone remember in the Mos Eisley Cantina when Obi-wan and Luke are talking to Han and Chewie? Then Han mentions something about outrunning Imperial starships. The conversation goes something like this: Han: I've outrun Imperial Starships. Not the local bulk cruisers, mind you, I'm talkin about the big Corellian ships, now. Now, the only "local bulk crusiers" that come to mind are Star Destroyers. But if my research is correct, they weren't manufactured by CEC, they were made by Kuat Drive Systems.

What "big Corellian ships" were Han talking about, if Star Destroyers were manufactured by Kuat? And if the Empire had a contract with Kuat?

Appearances

  • I'm making a list of Han appearances page, to cut down the size of this page and help navigation etc. I just did a similar thing for Darth Vader. I'm working it through on my subpage for now.   • Is there a reason why none of his other appearances are listed? I know that he appeared in or was mentioned in practically all the novels. Cushing as Han Solo?

  • That don't mention any other names in the Star Wars documentary. Harrison Ford was helping with reading during auditions and ended up with the role. Seems like Cushing was too old. -Finlayson 01:11, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

Illegitimate Daughter?

What in space?

What the kriff? There is no mention of Bria Tharen at ALL in this page! Furthermore, I recall that Han received the Bloodstripes for rescuing a bunch of kids. I'll read over the sources tonight and fix it tomorrow. <Note to self- watch this page> Atarumaster88 21:03, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

  • She's briefly mentioned in the pre-military career sector...but we seem to have missed the whole Battle of Ylesia, not to mention whatever happened with the Yavin Vassilka. All the same, it appears he already had the Bloodstripes when he rescued the kids after the Battle of Ylesia: Rebel Dawn mentions that the Corellian gov't would have given him the award for that if he didn't have it already. I also seem to recall that his award was upgraded sometime between ANH and ESB, but I don't know where I read that. —Silly Dan (talk) 21:21, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

        • Well, Han had the bloodstripes before he rescued the kids, he's mentioned having them in the Han Solo Adventures, and that comes before he rescues the kids in Rebel Dawn. Badure, I think, told Hatsi he didn't even know how Han got them, and she'd have to ask him herself.Fritzler 20:34, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
          • We still do not know where he got them from. In all the sources I have seen, the origin has never been specified. Maybe this would be a good topic for Lucasfilm to let an author write on. Then again, it does add to the mystery of the man. Atarumaster88 21:00, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

I removed this sentence: "Han and Leia later broke with the Corellians when they learned that they were planning to assassinate Tenel Ka and Allana."   • Well, the biggest problem with that statement was the words "I bet" and "I think." We do not allow speculation on factual articles, except in Behind the Scenes sections. Yes, it's possible. We can maybe even pick a rough timeline when he earned them based on existing works. However, we can't say when or how he got them precisely at this time until a source is given. NO SPECULATION. Inconsistency

One of the sections states that Garris Shrike attacked Han AFTER he graduated from the Academy. The way it's depicted in Paradise Snare, Han is attacked the night before he leaves to attend the Academy. Assassaination attempts?

This sentence is in the Black Fleet Crisis section. During this time there were many assassaination attempts on his wife's life, in which Han was suspected of being involved. What is this supposed to say?

  • Having read the Black Fleet Crisis, I don't recall Leia's life being in danger too much- just her political career- during this time. Maybe Han was suspected of involvement in another crisis- maybe the New Rebellion one. Atarumaster88 20px (Audience Chamber) 22:15, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Childhood section

  • Now the section includes this statement: He was the subject of several holofilms, documentaries, and autobiographies that were completely false. So he wrote his own biographies that were false. Doesn't seem to fit with 'He was the subject of' part. Maybe the autobiographies should be in seperate sentence. Or change it to biographies, since autobiography is a type biography and there'd be biographies by other authors. -Fnlayson 06:50, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Forces of Corruption tag

A tag for Star Wars: Empire at War: Forces of Corruption has been on this article for about 3 weeks now. I don't think there have been any edits made addressing this yet. Anybody know of changes that need to be made for this? -Fnlayson 01:27, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

      • He's in the first and last missions. The first mission (Kessel Insurrection) already has the information added, but the last mission (Second Battle of Kuat) doesn't. WHO SHOT FIRST!?

In Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, Han Solo is first seen in the Mos Eisley Cantina. Han is meeting with Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, so they could get a ride to the [[Alderaan System]]. After there meeting, a Rodian by the name of Greedo the Younger, comes and visits him. Greedo wants to collect the money that Han owed Jabba the Hutt. They start to dispute and, what I think, is Greedo shot and seconds later Han Solo fires two blasts from is blaster.   • Originally it had Han shooting first. It was later changed (2004) to have Greedo shooting slightly before Han. See Han shot first for more details. -Fnlayson 20:26, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

    • George has changed canon. In the original release, Greedo never got a shot, Han just fried him. The 1997SE VHS release was the first time it changed to Greedo firing first and Han firing virtually, but half a second later. - JMAS 17:48, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
      • I read in the junior-novel that there was a cut on Solo's head, indicating a shot fired bu Greedo. If Han shot first Greedo wouldn't have a chance to fire back.
      • HAN SHOT FIRST!!! If you watch the original unaltered edition of Episode IV (as it was meant to be seen), Han shoots Greedo, before Greedo can even get a shot at him. LukeSkywalker 10:55, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

Why these Han Solo action figures from TESB:

    • Han wore the outfit for the most time on Bespin, plus, since there is already a Han Hoth figure, and since Han is only on 2 planets in the movie, its obviously gonna be Bespin Han Solo. LukeSkywalker 17:20, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
      • I own three of these figures: the vintage, the POTF2 (the 1997 one not the Millenium Minted coins collection), and the POTJ version ("Bespin Capture").
