"Double-Bladed Lightsaber Disadvantages"

This section smells like original research. - Sikon [Talk] 16:02, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

=Indeed it does. Darth Bane: Path of Destruction does include a Sith Lord discussing the advantages and disadvantages of the blade. Either that should be cited, or the section should be gone. It subjected better suited for the combat article anyway.

  • Oh, has it been decided to remove it. If so, sorry I reverted your edits.--Lord OblivionSith holocronSith Emblem 04:16, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

Is "Sith Lightsaber" really necessary?

Don't think so. There are plenty documented instances of Jedi using one. I say cut it out.

  • That won't be happening. It's what the weapon is called in the databanks, and was mainly a Sith weapon. So it's staying. Darth Abeonis Sith Council (Sith Campaign) 18:50, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
  • The Double-Bladed variant is, according to Knights of the Old Republic, associated with the "Dark side of the force..." Though that doesn't mean it is a Sith weapon EXCLUSIVELY, but it most likely is best used in the hands of one of the more unbridled Sith. I guess I mean it is more/better assigned to the Sith side of things... Also, I'm having a difficult time thinking of a Jedi that actually wields the weapon in the Star Wars Universe... I know I could bring up Revan and the Jedi Exile as examples, but their canon weapons aren't touched upon, or so I believe... Feel free to correct if I have made any mistakes... _Kath.Hound 17:44, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

Darn it!

I created an article called doublesabre and it's the same thing. Could someone please delete this?

  • Someone has already redirected your article to this page. Kaje 05:21, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Sith Lightsaber

I know that sith lightsaber redirects here but we should actually have an article on The Sith Lightsaber seing as very few sith actually used double bladed sabres, and the majority of sith used single blades. Also there were many diffrent rituals and procces used in making sith sabers.--\\Captain KAJ// 15:37, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

  • No. it is named the Sith lightsaber in the Databanks, so it remains as it is. Jasca Ducato Sith Council 17:16, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
    • Yes but the databank frequantly contains inacuracies and is incomplete, plus its like saying Darth Sidious's lightsaber wasnt a sith one because it wasnt doublebladed.--\\Captain KAJ// 19:43, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
      • So are the Chronicles of the Old Republic, but they're canon. And not it's not! A lightsaber is a lightsaber, but the double-bladed was known as a Sith lightsaber. That's what the Databanks call it, and that's what we call it. Jasca Ducato Sith Council 20:38, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
        • YES it was the visual dictionary calls sidious's weapon a sith lightsaber vaders as well, a sith lightsaber was ANY lightsaber made and used by a sith, the article in the databank was written at the time of episode 1's relese and every canon source after that contradicts it.--\\Captain KAJ// 09:52, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
        • Canon is full of contradictions. But in this case, the Databanks refers to the Sith lightsaber (a double-bladed) seperately to a normal lightsaber (single blade). So, this is not one of the contradictions. Jasca Ducato Sith Council 20:14, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
          • The Visual Dictionary calls both Darth Sidious and Darth Vaders lightsabers Sith Lightsabers, also the Lightsaber retreived from Naga Sadow's tomb in KOTOR is labeled as a Sith Lightsaber despite being single bladed, this establishes the defination of a Sith Lightsaber, the article in the data bank is incorrect.--\\Captain KAJ// 10:57, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
            • Look, the Databank is canon. And it calls the DBL a Sith lightsaber. So it's staying. End of. Jasca Ducato Sith Council 19:34, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

so we have jedi using sith weapons to quote my list from above"Bastila Shan,Zez-Kai Ell,Jastus Farr,Shado Vao,Raskta Lsu,Sarro Xaj,and meny more some unnamed" diobern 15:15, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

i know this arguments done and dusted and i don't really way to refuel it but if we go by media in kotor 1 and 2 they have special "sith lightsaber" items as single bladed red sabers unable to be modded which for a non star wars fan is probally what is more expected when they think sith saber. i say we make an article called sith saber to specify that specific item and keep this weapon as what it is a double sided lsbr152.91.9.153 05:01, May 31, 2012 (UTC)

Should we add a quote to the "disadvantages" section? Destroyer Droid 04:02, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

Double-bladed lightsaber variants

Aren't there different variations of double-bladed lightsabers? One variant is a single-hilt double-bladed lightsaber like the one used by Exar Kun. It was shorter than other double-bladed lightsabers due to the single-hilt. Another variant was a double-bladed lightsaber that was actually two lightsabers fused together by the end. The third variant was a kind of double-bladed lightsaber similar to the second one. It was different because instead of being fused together, it was simply two lightsabers put together like Asajj Ventress did with her lightsabers once. This might have made it more easier for it to break back into two while Darth Maul's was fused so that it could not be easily taken into two unless chopped in half like Obi-Wan did.

Can someone tell me if these are true about double-bladed lightsabers. That there are variants on them. Cyfiero 03:26, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

When Kas'im's lightsaber was twisted it became 2 lightsabers. Oh, and yeah. Darth Oompa Loompa 02:54, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Has anyone ever dual-wielded double bladed lightsabers before?24.118.226.245 09:16, May 1, 2011 (UTC)

  • Check out the latest trailer for The Clone Wars season 3, theres a Besalisk holding two double-bladed lightsabers and Darth Simi used two double-bladed lightsabers. However the former has yet to be deemed canological until season 3 airs and the latter was part of SW Vissions and the artwork shown hasn't been deemed to be definatly Cannon. There may be more but not that I know.

Evil-Tree 15:07, May 1, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks, details on the techniques of those two would probably be something worth adding to the specifications section.24.118.226.245 06:39, May 2, 2011 (UTC)

  • Whoops, sorry I meant the trailer for Season 4, not three. Don't know about the techniques, we only see from the trailer the Besalisk deflecting blasters and we only have one image of Darth Simi so I can't think of their techniques. Although the Besalisk was holding one saber in both right arms and one in both left instead of holding one in each pair of arms, in anycase we have to wait till fall before specific and canological techniques can be defined. Sith lightsaber crystals?

I know this may sound like I'm beating a dead horse, seeing the other discussions about this article, but I feel that the inclusion of the Sith lightsaber crystal section heavily reinforces the stereotype that the double-bladed lightsaber is a Sith-exclusive weapon, talking about other Sith blades such as Dooku's. This information would be much better suited to the Synthetic lightsaber crystal article. (As I'm brand new to the Wookieepedia community, I'm somewhat hesitant to take initiative without the approval of established members.) -GroudonMan 00:42, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

if it was created by a darksider it may use "sith" lightsaber crystals but not all darksiders/sith used synthetic crystals plus the jedi who use them may or may not use synthetic crystals diobern 16:13, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

Saberstaff?

Should we have a section for the saberstaff, or variations? i never even seen Asajj's saberstaff mentioned in this article. --Lord EggHead (No, I am your father!) 13:13, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Zez-Kai Ell

Zez-Kai Ell was another wielder of the double-bladed lightsaber. I've only cursorily glanced at his article, but it shows him wielding a double-bladed saber. Someone should add this in to the article. -- Interrupt feed 04:58, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Main Picture

I vote we place an image of Darth Maul, as opposed to one of Asajj Ventress.

i agree thats who most of us think of besides her saber is actually pared sabers not a double bladed one. 72.70.198.211 14:44, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

  • I don't even know why this was changed. The old image with a clear picture of Darth Maul's double-bladed lightsaber was perfect. Now we have this image with Asajj Ventress holding her paired sabers, with the fact that they are curved not fitting well with the generality of double-bladed lightsabers, and with Ventress being more of the main image then the lightsaber itself. I'm changing it back, this current is just terrible for this article. Cyfiero 02:53, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Length of handle

I remember reading somewhere during the making of the Star Wars movie that Ray Park asked for the double lightsaber handle to be extended in length to make fight scenes easier or something. This link itself mentions it, but I actually remember reading it from a library book, haha. Sera404 19:00, October 5, 2009 (UTC)

Darth Traya

"The Sith Lord Darth Traya used a green double-bladed lightsaber during her adventures with the Jedi Exile." Since when? Not once in the entire game can she use a double-bladed lightsaber. Only having one hand probably didn't help. I've seen a picture of her with a green Lightstaff somewhere, but never in-game. --76.25.201.55 04:46, November 5, 2009 (UTC)

  • Find that sentence in the article. Click the number at the end of it. There's your answer. -- I need a name (Complain here) 14:20, November 5, 2009 (UTC)

The reference just says: The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia (Entry on Kreia). Clearly, the entry must be wrong or came from notes from pre-production or *something* which is contradicted by actual in-game action. Canonically, Kreia lost her hand to Darth Sion aboard the Harbinger while fleeing the Peragus Mining Facility BEFORE the exile or any member of her party could equip themselves with lightsabers. Her hand was never replaced and in flashbacks and visions is only ever seen wielding a single-bladed lightsaber (even while she still had two hands). If the Encyclopedia said "Luke Skywalker used a pink lightsaber against Darth Vader," would we be obligated to print that as well?

  • The CSWE is considered a canonical resource, plus, if you look at Kreia's article, there is a picture of a miniature of Kreia holding a saberstaff. These figures are considered canonical, unless otherwise specified by a LFL official.--Jedi Kasra (comlink) 00:31, May 7, 2010 (UTC)

Nice pic from online comic

There is a picture form a free online comic, Blood of the Empire, it shows a Sith throwing his double bladed lightsaber at a republic trooper. Anyone know how to put it into the article? Is it appropriate, and would it need to be cropped or anything? It is in the fourth panel, here is a link to it:

weakness not fitting with real life

feel i should add a comment as a stave fighter that its listed weaknesses even by cannon are offically lol worthy. i know its ow it was written and all that just completly impractical to think of the weapon in thoose ways inn real life.

a true 2 sided lightsaber or lightstaff as I like to refer to it would be a much more defensive weapon if used like a traditional bo staff. large circling arcs like shown in movie are great for catching and deflecting enemy blows and a sudden sideways tilt so blade points at enemy can be followed with a fast jab relying the hand to slide down to near the end of guard but never touching blade. for a simular test simply get a wooden staff. tape the middle for an eqqual distance to shown in movie and see how easy it is to manuvere. its not a super offensive weapon like star wars likes to emply but it could deffinatly be damaging when used int he hands of someone who knew what they were doing.152.91.9.153 04:56, May 31, 2012 (UTC)

Why is the image showing an un-ignited lightsaber?

Why is the image at the top of the article showing an un-ignited lightsaber? A double-bladed lightsaber should be shown ignited in all its glory. Showing just the hilt seems silly to me.--Richterbelmont10 (come in R2!) 23:38, July 30, 2013 (UTC)

The Darth Maul Debacle

I fail to see how the events of "Resurrection" (Referenced in the last paragraph under the "Use during the Great Jedi Purge" section) are still relevant. Disregarding my personal opinion on the canonicity of the aforementioned story, with the actual return of Darth Maul in TCW, the concept of Maul being revived by some organisation seems farfetched (unless retconned in the manner of: ‘killed by Sidious, resurrected again by cult’). Therefore I believe that the paragraph in question be removed, and the canonicity of "Resurrection" be re-verified. 220.233.40.220 08:21, December 5, 2013 (UTC)

Another saber staff variant?

I don't remember where I saw a staff-saber with an even longer hilt than that of Darth Maul, whereas the blades were a lot shorter. It wasn't in Jedi Academy, nor was it an electro-staff or the Jedi temple guards' saber...Ring a bell, anyone? If it makes any difference, I think I saw it in some comic picture...or was it in SWBF2?...--Lucasart don't care about their fans 09:38, May 1, 2015 (UTC)

If Star Wars was real,I'd be a Sith and wield a Saberstaff,I love thoses things, they are so cool.
