Further to this, I think we need to tamp down precisely which sources say what about Cygnus B... --McEwok 05:52, 24 Nov 2005 (UTC)
Hello!?
Okay. The Unofficial Encyclopedia says that Cygnus B and the semisentient algae come from Star Wars Monthly Poster Magazine #16, part of a run extending from 1977 to 1979. What we need to know now are what, if anything, is said about a star, planet or system Cygnus, as opposed to Cygnus Spaceworks, in any other source, especially those listed:
- The Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels
- The Farlander Papers
- The Stele Chronicles
- The New Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels
- The Movie Trilogy Sourcebook
- Incredible Cross-Sections: Revenge of the Sith
- wizards.com/starwars

Sources
As author of this article, I had assumed Cygnus B, a planet named in Poster Magazine as having sentient algae, was the capital planet of the Cygnus Star Empire mantioned in the Imperial Shuttle Plans book. The Cygnus Star Empire Construction Division and Cygnus Spaceworks were also referenced in this booklet, and Cygnus Spaceworks in many sources since, inc EGVV and NEGVV. 21183 BBY=the date 3817 from this same pamphlet. The governmental alignment of the Cygnus system was based on the fact that Cygnus was contracted by both the Republic (ie, Theta-class in ROTS) and Empire (Lambda-class in ROTJ). THe construction codes are from the pamphlet. The infor about Croy Winnis, the Kappa, and Cygnus's involvement in TIE prototypes comes fro mthe Farlander Papers. JustinGann 03:28, 29 Nov 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks, Cilghal! The bad news is that the Book of Imperial Shuttle Plans is fan-art — exactly how the company name came from there to canon is hard to know now. The main question is whether anything like the Farlander Papers and Incredible Cross-Sections said anything about Cygnus Spaceworks' home system. --McEwok 11:52, 29 Nov 2005 (UTC)
- Well, Poster Magazine is canon, methinks. It still seems likely that Cygnus B, mentioned in that source, could be the homeworld of Cygnus Spaceworks, or at least in the same system.JustinGann 16:16, 29 Nov 2005 (UTC)
- Here's a scan of Poster Magazine 16, which also sources the thinking ocean of Solanus, Klytonians, "olfaxes" (a general term for species who communicate by smell), and a truly exotic creature called a dog. 8) More relevant to this article, it refers to the Cygnus B system. — Silly Dan 01:56, 30 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Separate systems
In what source is it confirmed that the Cygnus system and Cygnus B system are the same? The Cygnus system's location, as supplied by The Essential Atlas, corresponds to the location of the Cygnus Star Empire as provided in "The Written Word." However, neither "Cantina Communications" nor "Welcome to the Star Wars Jungle" make any mention of the Cygnus B system's location or confirm any relation to the Cygnus Star Empire or Cygnus Spaceworks. Is there a source I'm missing that directly confirms that both systems are the same? SeboltoTalk 00:45, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
