Behind the Scenes - Origin of the Name
On page 11 (chapter 2) of "Lando Calrissian and the Flamewind of Oseon" the word "Corcuscating" is used to describe the effects of impacts on the shields of the Millennium Falcon. The word "Corcuscating" is a form of the word "Coruscant" as in to pulse or flash brightly. I suspect this description from 1983 may have been an influence on Timothy Zahn when he devised the name of the Galaxy's capitol. - "Coruscant," "coruscate," and its derivative "coruscating" are both standard English words, so it would be hard to prove any direct connection between Smith's use of the term and Zahn's name for the capital planet. Indeed, I'd say it's probably more likely Zahn just used the word due to the standard English usage of "coruscant" rather than referencing any other EU. At any rate, the annotated Heir to the Empire comes out soon, so maybe he'll address the name choice for the planet there. ~Savage

Behind the Scenes - Population
Okay, this is driving me nuts. Traitor DOES NOT say the population IS 1 Trillion. It distictly says that 1 Trillion is a gross OVER estimate, but goes on to use it in Jacen Solo's hypothetical musing on how survivors of the Vong conquest could be used as a weapon against the invaders for the sake of easier math. Am I seriously the only one that noticed this? It seems like everyone in the fandom just went "HURR DURR, it says 1 trillion, DURR" paying zero attention to the context of that number's usage.
Even worse, the misconception of it being a literal figure got so popular, even LucasArts dropped their brains and jumped on the bandwagon, farting out supporting entries in a few other EU sources later on. --Othalan (talk) 10:36, June 26, 2012 (UTC)

This is Huge

Population underestimate
One Trillion?
The population of Earth with no water a population density of Macau (Chinese City) would be around 100 Trillion, and the population density looks greater than that of the most developed cities of Earth. I'm aware this is the official number, but its ridiculous. With 1 Trillion residents, and given that its radius is very similar to that of Earth, it would have a population density similar to Germany. Clearly it is more dense than Germany, there are thousands of stories in buildings that cover the entire planet. How did whoever came up with 1 trillion possibly arrive at that number, its beyond nonsensical. The population could easily be upwards of 250-500 Trillion to even 1 Quadrillion. —Unsigned comment by 172.250.168.91 (talk • contribs)
- Sigh. It never gets old… Whether the official 1 trillion figure makes sense or not is irrelevant. We go by what canon sources say, regardless of how much it makes sense. - The Densest city on Earth is Manila, Phillippines. With 107,000 per square mile. With Coruscant and Earth being roughly the same size, with no oceans it's got 196 million square miles. Enough for 20 Trillion people. Assuming it's surface isn't all livable, it has industrial infrastructure for reclaiming it's water, reprocessing it's atmosphere, generating power, disposing of waste and storage water, resources, climate control, disposing of waste heat, etc. Plus commercial buildings, offices, retail and other non residential. Parks gardens and recreational spaces. Star ports and ship yards, etc. So a trillion is not too far fetched. South of Coruscant is the Agricultural Slice, planets that provide the Core Worlds with their foods....

That seems extremely excessive for a planet with a population of 1-3 trillion. Each person is producing at the very least a third of a ton of waste per HOUR? Is this really correct? Doniazade (talk) 20:04, October 21, 2014 (UTC)

Coruscant's Moons
Coruscant has four moons. We know that one was destroyed and another was ejected from orbit. According to Centax-2's and Hesperidium's articles, they were both around after the Yuuzhan Vong War. Considering the fact that Centax-1's and Centax-3's articles have no information on them about their status in the Yuuzhan Vong War and beyond, we can deduce that these two moons were the ones that were destroyed or ejected from orbit. Should this information be added to their pages?

Where and when was Coruscant confirmed to be Notron?
As the title says. To my knowledge this was just an in-universe theory which some people took as fact due to their belief that Coruscant was the Human homeworld, chauvinistically deciding that any references to Notron as the mythical human homeworld obviously must have been referring to Coruscant. Continuity Errors
These are some continuity errors I found while reading through the Clone Wars Era history (Legends) of Coruscant.
-Valorum is still listed as having died in the bombing of the Star of Iskin. -The Battle of Coruscant is described as taking place on 15:5:20, other sources on Wookieepedia state that it was actually on 16:5:20. Source is listed as the Essential Atlas, might double check there.
