  • It sure should. --Imp 20:23, 30 Jul 2005 (UTC)
  • im confused here(im not even sure if i spelt that right) OK Luke is he married to Mara yet because in Children of the Jedi Mara is in there and something about luke selling something for bantha feed for Ben and his passage somwhere, but I know He can't even be born yet because this takes place in 12 A.B.Y. and Ben s. isn't born until 27 A.B.Y. so is he reffering to Ben Kenobi? Wow and i wonder who came up with his relationship with Callista! Amazing how many new carachters u can meet in 1 new book!<**>p.s. i didn't have anywhere to put this so i thought this would do! Picture

I was wondering if the picture of Callista Ming shown is her during the Clone Wars or if it is Cray Mingla's body? Unsigned comment by 216.227.96.165 (talk • contribs)

  • The latter. --SparqMan 02:16, 11 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Death

I can't remember if she essentially committed suicide to enter the ship's computer or if she was killed and then did so. Anyone care to refresh my memory? Lieutenant Gerard 17:20, 8 Jan 2006 (UTC)

  • You asked this question a while ago, but she was left to die in the computer core of the Eye by Geith (sp?). She entered the computer to keep it from doing any damage to anyone or anything. Rain Thalo 01:14, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

New Sith

Quote

The quote "The blonde with the legs." really refers to Cray. After Callista entered Cray's body, the hair started turnign light brown. A quote from Callista would be better. -Finlayson 00:25, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

  • The quote comes from Darksaber and was definitely referring to Callista. Kuralyov 00:00, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
    • No, it's from Children of The Jedi and Han was referring to Cray. He and Leia were talking about Cray's mentor being murdered. --Reagan64 22:32, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
      • Reagan64 is right. I'm going to change this if there are no objections within a week. -Milo FettComlink 02:02, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Why Ming?

I am a little unclear as to why the article refers to her as Callista Ming. I admit it has been many years since I read the books she's featured in, but I don't recall any mention of a last name. Also, the Star Wars Databank lists her simply as Callista. I know her borrowed body belonged to Cray Mingala...which seems like it may be the reason for the surname Ming. Is this information incorrect or have I missed something? Unsigned comment by Kjaydeck3 (talk • contribs)

  • It's used in "Murder in Slushtime," right in the first paragraph: "There were places in the galaxy more depressing than the planet Gamorr in slushtime. Callista Ming had even been to some of them." It *is* strange that the Databank and New Essential Guide to Characters don't have her last name, though. jSarek 03:22, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
    • Ah, that makes sense. If Hambly says so I suppose I can handle that.--Kjaydeck3 03:34, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
      • The question is raised again with Order 66 and the different name she has in that. Anybody know something about that? Charlii 07:57, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
        • I guess she changed her surname due the Jedi Purge... or maybe she married someone or just changed her name for some reason... I'd say the Jedi Purge is the reason really though. Woorloog 13:05, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
          • Personally, I thought that her usage of Ming later on, after she'd been released from the Eye, was a sort of tribute to Cray - Callista is the one using the body, but it was originally Cray's, so it's her way of saying thanks to Cray. I mean, there's no particular reason for her to use a different last name after her release from the Eye, since the Jedi aren't getting hunted down anymore. DGCatAniSiri 01:15, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Eye Color

I changed the Eye Color to Gray when she inhabits Cray's body.

When luke first runs over to her in Children of the Jedi and still believes its Cray, he looks in her eyes and finds that they're Gray. Her hair color still seemed to be blonde though for some reason... Unsigned comment by 69.244.101.60 (talk • contribs)

  • i thought that was cool and her hair color changes right? Ewokmenace 15:28, 5 January 2008 (UTC)ewokmenace
  • Yes, when she first enters Cray's body it is blonde, but Luke notices that it is darker at the roots and predicts that it will change to the color he remembers from his visions of her, which it does. Rain Thalo 01:07, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Hair color

I'm not so sure she had blonde hair "as Cray". When she first wakes up in her new body, this is what it says in Children of the Jedi: "-- pressing his face against the pale ragged hair, which he [Luke] knew would turn brown in time." And her hair looks pretty brownish to me in the infobox picture... Though in some of the other pictures it is indeed blonde. I know this is a minor thing, but it bugs me nonetheless (unfortunately I'm built that way ;). Should we do something about it? --Tinwe 10:55, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

  • Found a passage in Planet of Twilight that confirms that Callista's hair did change back to its original color after the spirit transference:
[…] In colorless starlight, no trace of Cray's blond remained in the thick masses of Callista's hair.
Dark with the darkness, in daylight it would be the soft, medium-brown that it had been turning when last she'd [Leia] seen this woman with Luke.
I'll go and change the infobox field, then. :) --Tinwe 15:30, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Meaning of ming

should it be noted that Ming means ugly or disgusting in Irish slang (english language) AdmirableAckbar 14:40, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

  • I wouldn't have thought so. We have too many of those "this person's name means blah in random language" and I only think it's worth mentioning if the character's name was actually derived from it. Green Tentacle (Talk) 14:44, 8 June 2007 (UTC
    • true, but the article only has one behind the scenes note. i don't really care or have an opinion about this matter, but i just wanted to let people know, so they can decide. AdmirableAckbar 18:18, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
  • hey someone i know says "bacca" means stupid in japanese and someone else said "chew" means bear i have a feeling tht's not true any thoughts any one<**> Unsigned comment by 71.197.13.15 (talk • contribs)

Lightsaber color

Can anyone confirm that her lightsaber was yellow? It seems to be yellow in two of the pictures provided, but does it say anywhere in the novels that it is yellow? Livingston (The Force will be with you. Always.) 17:02, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

  • didn't it say it had sea bears carved on it and im not a big fan of yellow it kinda looks weirdEwokmenace 15:29, 5 January 2008 (UTC)ewokmenace<**>
    • The pictures are canon. Therefore, her lightsaber is yellow. However, I seem to recall that in Murder in Slushtime if not Children of the Jedi as well, it was described as yellow if you are interested in textual sources. Atarumaster88 Jedi Order (Talk page) 05:46, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
      • when Leia first meets up with Callista near the end of Planet of Twilight it says that Callista's lightsaber had a yellow blade. Rain Thalo 01:10, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Final Leaving of Luke

Should her final departure from Luke be fleshed out a little more? She left him in hopes of regaining her powers and returning to him eventually, both times. If no one objects within a week or so I'm going to add that. Rain Thalo 01:19, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

  • IMHO, it's fairly detailed. I tossed in another clause or two to hit that point, but feel free to work on it if you're still not satisfied. Atarumaster88 Jedi Order (Talk page) 01:38, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Survival in Abeloth (Vortex Spoilers)

I was reading this page and noticed that, for the most part, the impression is given that Callista was simply killed by Abeloth. After rereading several relevant excerpts from Allies (as well as having read the other Abeloth-related FOTJ novels), I can't help but feel that this statement is somewhat inaccurate.

Yes, Abeloth certainly puts an end to their normal existence as independen, living beings. But the text suggests that the characters survive, in some form, as a part of Abeloth. That's why when Luke encounters her in Callista's form he knows that Callista really is there, as a part of the greater whole, even if he later realizes that she can't be extracted from Abeloth or saved.

Having only read Allies one might get the impression that she merely steals the surface characteristics of individuals, killing the original. However, with Vortex we learn that her absorption of other people seems to be far more complete, taking their very "souls" into herself.

Beyond that, it may also be a two-way process, given that it seems both Dyon Stadd and Akanah's bodies seemed to have become Abeloth's. In any case, these developments bring new light to Abeloth's words to Dyon Stadd in Allies, which without the following book might seem like simple lies, in which she tells him that he live on as long as she does, for they will be together forever.

So I think we should not necessarily classify Callista as "dead", especially since FOTJ may be assuming readers will perceive her continued existence and use it as a dramatic point later on. Given the interviews mentioned at the end of this article, that seems like a definite possibility.

Determining how to classify her current status would also help us in having an idea of what to make of Dyon Stadd and Akanah's fates (as well as anyone else who might have been or become consumed by Abeloth). --Sauron18 20:41, December 12, 2010 (UTC)

Freed from Abeloth

Will someone please update the page to make sure that is known that Luke freed Callista's spirit from Abeloth, which allowed Callista to finally become one with the Force. Unsigned comment by Senjuto (talk • contribs)

BtS sourcing

  • If there is a source available for the Behind the Scenes section regarding Callista in FotJ, it will need to be added. Otherwise, I will be removing it as speculation and/or original research until it can be verified. Thanks! Atarumaster88 Jedi Order (Talk page) 02:18, June 6, 2011 (UTC)
