Basilisk Variants

Actually, according to Tales of the Jedi: The Sith War 1: Edge of the Whirlwind, several forms of the basilisk war droid existed. Mandalore uses an "open-combat" model in the comic, whatever that is. --Imperialles 15:07, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)

What the...? Reverted Darth Nuke's version unless he provides sources to what sounds like fresh fanon. - Sikon 13:34, 25 Jul 2005 (UTC)

My info comes directly from the Essential Guide to Droids and the Mandalorian Article in Insider 80. Please try to remember that I know my Mandalorians very well.- Darth Nuke

I thought the TOTJ type was supposed to resemble Lagartoz dragons, not Zalorian rock lions. Were Zalorian rock lions actually mentioned in a source prior to Galactic Battlegrounds? And TOTJ is an appearance, not a source.JustinGann 08:53, 4 Dec 2005 (UTC)

in my opinion there are probably dozens of different types of basislisk war droids and we only know 2 types they may have even been unique to each mandolorian

That may have been the case with the ancient models of them, where it was harder to mass-produce high-tech things, perhaps they changed over the years, and eventually became the model seen in TSL.... nonetheless it Does Describe the Basilisk as an open-aired fighter you would literally ride on into battle, and it appeared you controlled it either through a mental link/Verbal command, or a set of controls mounted on the back of it, but yes, they seem to have modelled the K1 droids after the ones im hearing about being mentioned in a canon comic of some sort

Basilisk war-mount?

I'm not very knowledgable about things from these older eras... but would I be right to assume that Cassus Fett's "Basilisk war-mounts" are the same things as these Basilisk war droids? --Azizlight 05:54, 3 Jan 2006 (UTC)

I think they are talking about the Basiliskians as slave mounts before becoming the savages.

Bounty Hunter expansion pack

I was wondering if anyone here has seen the box art for the Star Wars Custom Miniatures Game: Bounty Hunter's Expansion pack? It has a Mandalorian Basilisk War Droid on the front, being piloted by a Mandalorian. I was thinking this would be a great image for the Wiki here, should anyone be able to find the actual art by itself. Enjoy. Sadriel Fett (Mando'a) 02:12, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

  • Cropped for use in the article it looks like this:

    • That's cool. We can update it with a better pic, once the actual game comes out and we can get a bigger and better scan of the image. Thanks. Sadriel Fett (Mando'a) 05:31, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
Basilisk

Ah, here is a good version of this picture, from Chris Trevas´ site. I uploaded it, but don't know where to put it so I just presented it here for someone who might have a place planned for it.--Sauron18 13:05, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

New Essential Guide to Droids Image

Could someone with this book scan a picture for this article? If you think it's cool enough, I haven't seen it so I dunno...--Sauron18 01:00 29 June 2006 (CDT)

Basilisk War Droids in KOTOR Comics!

I'm unsure if we should count it as an appearance yet, but the artist for the "Flashpoint" series of the KOTOR Comics has stated [1] that they will appear in Issue #8. --Sauron18 06:43, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

This pic....

Isn't this pic ([2]) which is featured in this article actually a StarViper-Class Assault Fighter ([3]) like the one Prince Xizor of the Black Sun used?

  • I agree, it looks exactly like the Virago to me. I believe someone said before that it was called a Basilisk War Droid in the KOTOR 2 game for Canderous Ordo's ship or something. I haven't played it, yet, so I don't know for certain, myself. Sadriel Fett (Mando'a) 03:26, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
    • Yes, it is virtually identical to the Virago. No one really know why they decided to use that model in the game (though it should be noted that the Virago was a product of MandalMotors). In the new comic book series, that design has been merged with the old basilisk droid to form a new model. It can be seen in the lower right corner of this image: File:Courageous in Battle of Vanquo .jpg.–SentryTalk 18:22, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
      • Anyway, if you look at Virago and the basilisk, you can see they aren't exactly the same. My theory is that MandalMotors modeled Virago after the basilisk droids.--Darth OblivionComlinkSith Emblem 18:41, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
        • ditto.–SentryTalk 18:45, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
          • I am not sure, but I have a feeling that the Shadows of The Empire Sourcebook (d6) mentioned something about using parts from the Basilisk in the construction of the Virago. Worth checking, but I don't have the sourcebook anymore.Maciorro 18:21, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Description Discrepancy

Is there really a description discrepancy from how Canderous describes a Basilisk in KOTOR, and how in appears in KOTOR 2? From what I remember, Canderous certainly talks about riding the Basilisk down, but describes 15cm of armour plate between him and the vacuum/upper atmosphere outside. 15cm of armour is way too much for a suit of armour (even for mandalorians! ) so surely an enclosed cockpit is implied. We see an enclosed cockpit in KOTOR 2, so where is the contradiction? 81.103.165.172 01:50, March 6, 2012 (UTC)

Basilikian typo

I just added a note to Behind the Scenes regarding the "Basilikian homeworld" typo from The New Essential Guide to Droids. If this is not the best place for it, please make a redirect or something, so someone reading that source isn't searching and failing to find "Basilikian" on Wookieepedia like I just was.--Been L'toth (talk) 18:36, September 5, 2015 (UTC)Been L'toth
