Circular tool-bay disks

The visual dictionary talks about the 6 orange circles on BB-8's shell being "swappable circular tool bay disks" and how they can be replaced and upgraded with minimal reprogramming. I feel like this should be included in the "Equipment" section. I know it is alluded to in the "Characteristics" part but I feel like it should be more specificly stated. --Sibboguy (talk) 22:05, February 3, 2016 (UTC)

"eye-piece"

Can't it just be called photoreceptors? I mean it is canon, after all. 75.158.35.166 06:53, April 20, 2015 (UTC)

  • The Visual Dictionary refers to it as a photoreceptor, so I'll go ahead and change it. --Tsqueeze (talk) 21:05, January 5, 2016 (UTC)

Merchandise info

Does the information we learned from official merchandise revealed at D23 count as canon yet? If so, BB-8 is officially an Astromech Droid owned by Poe Dameron (from the Black Series Rey & BB-8 set). --82.43.116.251 10:51, August 15, 2015 (UTC)

  • Can you provide a specific source? - AV-6R7 (talk) 19:08, August 15, 2015 (UTC)
    • Nevermind. - AV-6R7 (talk) 19:14, August 15, 2015 (UTC)

Gender programming?

Do we have a more solid source that BB-8 has masculine programming? This here says that they're not really "sure if it was a boy or a girl." So somebody simply using male pronouns may not be enough for confirmation there. ProfessorTofty (talk) 22:03, December 4, 2015 (UTC)

  • In the Star Wars Celebration video they say BB-8 operates "on his own," but that's the only identification I'm aware of. Perhaps it should be removed until it becomes more clear. Cwedin(talk) 22:13, December 4, 2015 (UTC)
    • Yeah, that's what I thought. Well, if that's all we have, then I'm going to ditch it from the article if we have other sources saying it's uncertain. We can certainly put it on wait. ProfessorTofty (talk) 22:41, December 4, 2015 (UTC)
      • This section really should just be removed completely from the page. There are too many sources claiming different things. For example according to the Telegraph.co.uk Kathleen Kennedy referred to BB-8 as a she. While others claim the opposite.AndyMay (talk) 04:08, December 30, 2015 (UTC)
        • Im pretty sure the novelization uses masculine pronouns, and the Sphero app referrers to BB-8 as a he. - AV-6R7Crew Pit 04:10, December 30, 2015 (UTC)
          • I saw TFA again the other day and both Poe and Rey, even when Rey is on Jakku and BB-8 won't tell her anything about him, refer to BB-8 as a male. Cevan IMPpress (talk) 16:27, December 30, 2015 (UTC)

Hate this thing.

I clearly hate a lot of things Disney have done to the Star Wars, but this is just apotheosis of all the dumbest stuff they've introduced. God, I really hate it... and I just had to write it somewhere. Thanks for reading - 37.190.39.74 09:05, December 25, 2015 (UTC)

  • You didn't have to. And you especially didn't have to here. If you want to complain find a forum or start a blog. This page is for discussing how to improve the article, not for your personal feelings about Disney's creative decisions. Overlordjeff (talk) 09:18, December 25, 2015 (UTC)

BB8's voice

I heard that they changed BB8's voice for the movie. Is this true? Here's an example of the voice commonly used in the meantime. [1] It is the same voice heard in the Star Wars Celebration video, and it should be given note to in the article. Angie Y. (talk) 18:03, February 12, 2016 (UTC)

Absent TLJ content

Honestly, there is absolutely no Last Jedi content, as his biography contains everything up to the Force Awakens. I can't make the edit all by myself, so we really need a lot of people working on this. - 126.198.28.21, 23:48, April 11, 2018, UTC
