Allegiance-class heavy Star Destroyer

Why is this called an Allegiance-class heavy Star Destroyer, that has got to be the ugliest class name I have ever seen, and should either drop the "heavy" designation or be changed to Star Battlecruiser, Also, how can it only be 1,000 to 2,000 meters long, it has to be longer that 2,000 meters, because the Allegiance is clearly over 2,000 meters simply based on the image from Star Wars: Dark Empire. Zeta1127 of the 89th Legion (talk) 18:19, April 10, 2012 (UTC)

  • The class name is from Ansel Hsiao. The 1000 - 2000 meters is from the anaxes college system in the guide. If you look the picture of Station Validusia, the allegiance (on the left) doesn't look bigger than the ISDs (on the right). Hk 47 18:46, April 10, 2012 (UTC)
    • There is no such thing as a "heavy" Star Destroyer. Zeta1127 of the 89th Legion (talk) 18:58, April 10, 2012 (UTC)
      • The artist seems to agree, that part wasn't in the name, only in an unofficial description he made. I think we may have to move the page... Thrackerzod 15:37, April 12, 2012 (UTC)

Merging request (From Talk:Imperial-class Super Star Destroyer)

Hi.

According to Jason Fry's recent endnote on The Essential Guide to Warfare, the Allegiance-class battlecruisers are in fact the same ones as the Imperial-class Super Star Destroyers in Dark Empire II, at the very least, so we might need to do a merger sooner or later between the two articles, incorporating several aspects of this article into it as well. Weedle McHairybug 20:11, May 14, 2012 (UTC)

  • I was already working on just that. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 20:33, May 14, 2012 (UTC)

Is it possible to get an image of the class' namesake in the article? Corellian PremierRobotechAll along the watchtower 03:24, May 20, 2012 (UTC)

Detail

YES!!!! I was hoping someday that this article would get more pics. -Boba fett 32 19:29, June 24, 2012 (UTC)

Retired?

"By the time following the Second Galactic Civil War, any ships of the Allegiance-class had presumably all been destroyed or retired, as both the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances and the Fel Empire put their naval focus on smaller, lighter designs and no major powers in the galaxy used Super Star Destroyers anymore due to their expensive upkeep.[6]"

I don't know the source where this came from, but given that these ships have been retconned to be battlecruisers rather than "Super Star Destroyers" (Presumably meaning Star Dreadnaughts), are we sure this still applies to the Allegiance class. If it is not specifically mentioned I don't think we can confirm this as true. Celestial Oblivion (talk) 07:43, February 2, 2014 (UTC)

Super Star Destroyers actually apply to both Star Battlecruisers or Star Dreadnoughts. The only thing that the term "Super Star Destroyer" means is any ship with a classification larger than that of a Star Destroyer, that's all. Weedle McHairybug (talk) 13:37, February 2, 2014 (UTC)

Bellator-class vs Allegiance-class

Aren't most of the images used in this article actually Bellator-class SSDs? Ansel Hsaio's model is what I understood the Allegiance to look like. The Bellators have a distinct hull along the dorsal side if I recall correctly. Unsigned comment by 174.17.163.109 (talk • contribs)

  • Some of the images in the article are fleet shots, with both Allegiances and Bellators, so I think that's where the confusion may be. The Allegiances are the ones from the Dark Empire comic. Corellian PremierJedi symbolThe Force will be with you always 12:15, October 8, 2016 (UTC)
    • To be a bit more specific, since both were from the comic, they are derived from either the star destroyers seen escorting the Eclipse, or otherwise the Allegiance that got blown up in an ambush. Weedle McHairybug (talk) 13:27, October 8, 2016 (UTC)

Armament

Since armaments is based on Ansel Hsiao's model, I notice that all of the small sponsons all dotted all over the superstructure and trenches seem to be smaller gun emplacements. Should those be counted? Asgard forever (talk) 07:57, September 11, 2017 (UTC)

  • Unless it was accepted into the Holocron Continuity Database, we really shouldn't include that. Weedle McHairybug (talk) 10:14, September 11, 2017 (UTC)
