Talcene was a planet[3] located in the Talcene system, a part of the Talcene sector of the Mid Rim.[1] It was connected to the Orleon and Salvara systems by the Perlemian Trade Route super-hyperroute, which served as a dividing line between the regions known as the Slice and the Trans-Hydian. Talcene shared its name with the Talcene Transit, a hyperspace route linking the Perlemian Trade Route to[2] the Suolriep sector's[4] Saleucami system.[2] The planet's surface featured cityscape.[3]
Talcene was home to notoriously competitive industrial guilds. The Human Shea Hublin,[3] who was born around 35 BBY,[5] grew up on Talcene. As a boy, he raced swoop bikes, and, during his teenage years, Hublin made a good living as a courier for Talcene's industrial guilds.[3] Around 19 BBY,[5] at the age of sixteen, he joined the navy of the Galactic Republic, and his eventual service in the naval forces of the Republic's successor, the Galactic Empire, involved assignments offworld.[3]
Behind the scenes
Talcene was introduced via map label in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, which placed it in grid square Q-8.[2] In 2012, it was established as a planet by the reference book The Essential Guide to Warfare by Fry and Paul R. Urquhart.[3]
