The Salvara system was located in the Tennuutta sector of the Mid Rim.[1] It was situated between the Euceron system of the Eucer sector and the Talcene system of the Talcene sector[3] on the super-hyperroute known as the Perlemian Trade Route, which served as the dividing line between the regions known as the Trans-Hydian and the Slice.[2]
During the Clone Wars[2] that were fought from 22 BBY to 19 BBY between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems,[4] the Salvara system lay in space controlled by the Confederacy.[2] At one point, the system was the site of[5] the naval Battle of Salvara[6] of the Tenuutta Skirmishes[5] that resulted in a Republic defeat.[6] The Confederacy also maintained a deep-space cybernetics development station near the Salvara system toward the end of the Clone Wars.[7]
Behind the scenes
The name "Salvara" was originally introduced in reference to a battle first mentioned in the 1987 rulebook for the first edition of West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[8] It was subsequently established as a distinct star system in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, which placed it in grid square Q-7.[2]
