Tal was an entity known to^[1] the Talpini Nihil Tempest Runner^[2] Zeetar.^[1] In 231 BBY, the Twi'lek Tempest Runner Lourna Dee unleashed the Great Leveler^[3]—a creature that fed on Force-sensitives and petrified them—against^[1] the Jedi Knights^[2] Keeve Trennis and Terec on the Outer Rim planet Xais to test its effects against the Jedi. As Trennis was experiencing hallucinations from the Leveler's effects, Zeetar attempted to kill her, although^[1] he^[2] was prevented from doing so by Dee. The action caused him to question if the Twi'lek had lost her mind and invoke Tal's name when asking what she was doing. In response, Dee told Zeetar she had acted because they needed Trennis alive to determine whether a prior use of the Leveler against the Jedi had been a fluke.^[1]

Behind the scenes

Tal was mentioned in the eleventh issue of the 2021 comic series Star Wars: The High Republic, released as part of^[1] the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase I.^[4] The issue was written by Cavan Scott and published by Marvel Comics on November 10, 2021.^[5]
