The T2-E Petard-class combat engineering vehicle, known simply as the Petard-class, was a light hovertank manufactured by Yutrane-Trackata. It was based on the T2-B Repulsor Tank's chassis and was designed to provide combat engineering units with heavy siege capabilities while doubling as a light secondary engineering vehicle.
Characteristics
The Petard-class was a light, relatively manoeuvrable, low-profile, hovertank. It was based on the T2-B Repulsor Tank's chassis and was equipped with a turret-mounted demolition gun, which could fire large-calibre, fin-stabilized, shaped charges designed specifically to destroy fortifications and buildings. It also had a forward-mounted auto-blaster that provided the vehicle with anti-personnel and anti-vehicle capabilities. The auto-blaster could be switched out with a heavy flamethrower, for higher damage against fortifications and installations.[1]
The vehicle was also equipped with multiple construction systems. An articulated blade was mounted to the front of the Petard's angular hull, in addition to a light tractor beam projector. While it didn't have room for passengers, it did have a crew composed of a commander, a pilot, and a gunner. The vehicle was orange and white in color, had a maximum hovering altitude of three meters, and cost 88,000 credits on the market.[1]
Role
The T2-E Petard-class combat engineering vehicle was primarily designed as a fighting vehicle, but was also equipped to do construction. It was used to siege enemy fortifications and installations and also doubled as a light secondary engineering vehicle. Its articulated blade could be used for pushing and grabbing, and its light tractor beam projector could lift and tow objects.[1]
History
Manufactured by Yutrane-Trackata, the T2-E Petard-class was used by the Alliance to Restore the Republic's combat engineering units during the Galactic Civil War against the Galactic Empire.[1]
